After Great Britain suffered a huge defeat in the latest boarder skirmish with Germany in my fictional Africa, the Queen has decided that enough is enough and Germany needs to be punished and has decided to call for volunteers. Of the loyal colonist in the territory that answered the call, a unit based on the Frontier Light Horse was raised.

There wont be any pictures of this horrible disaster as 80% of the British forces were killed or captured and the newspaper correspondent was killed by the Germans and his papers were destroyed in order to keep the incident quiet.
Sorry for the unfinished bases, I really hate doing bases so I put it off until I have more that need to be done. The figures are Redoubt from their Zulu range. I really liked these figures as they were a chance to paint something other than red. Tell me what you think of them.

Dont worry, the pics if there were any porably would have played out like my abortave attack on a German tradeing post last month. It was not pretty at all.

Hi,
They look great. You have painted avery effective jacket there.

Great paintjobs; I love your leather boots, especially. The figures are nice as well. But are these really intended to be Brits? There's something a little too "alpine" about them... :?

The Frontier Light Horse is one of those units that I think looks very striking. Its a great uniform. I also have a unit of those figures. You have done a cracking job on them. :)

Very nice paint jobs. Really like the jackets.
How do the figures match up to other ranges? They look very tall.

They are very tall and will stand head and shoulders above most other ranges.
Mors has done a very nice comparison photo here:

Yes they are intended to be British, if I remember right they were a volunteer unit raised some where in South Africa. The black on their uniforms is supposed to be hussar knots. The figures are tall being from Redoubts Zulu range, I also have some of their British figures from their Sudan range which are smaller than the Zulu range. The Sudan British fit well with the Foundry, Brigade Games, and Old Glory figures that I have. Thank you all for your comments.

Excellent work, lovely uniforms. :)
And surely those big, healthy cornfed farmboys would be bigger than everybody else anyway? ;)
