The best figure I've ever seen, on the theme of the Asian Cavalry Division Ungern.
Only this figure depicts an officer of the "headquarters hundred", that is, a Cossack hundred for the protection of the headquarters.
Here is a great article on the uniform Ungern division, from which you used the illustration:

That is a fine looking army. My sincerest compliments.
-
Thank you Cuprum, you correct my mistake.

Always ready to help ;)

Absolutely brilliant, what did you convert these from?
-
I convert these from Copplestone Chinese machine gun.
It's time to add some others Mongols.

Can anyone (Costanzo, Cuprum, Mark Plant, others?) offer their opinion on the accuracy of the information contained on the Kolchakiya site? I'm especially keen to understand that the uniforms of the Baron's Army represented on there are, if not absolutely verifiable, then there's at least some depth of research and certainty about what they're putting forward.
-
You can safely trust the website "Kolchakia" in matters of uniform. Reconstruction of the appearance of soldiers is made solely on the basis of historical photos and descriptions of eyewitnesses. At present, there is simply no better research.
-
I do not have the authority to evaluate the site. I have extracted my information from that (even making mistakes in translation), by reading all the books I've found and studying the photos.
-
Guys, if you need any help to work with Russian information - I'm always ready to help ;)
-
Thank you Cuprum!

-
Thanks for replying Cuprum. I appreciate you putting forward opinion on the Kolchakiya site. If you have any additional information you can share about the Mad Baron, I'd be very happy to see it.
Costanzo - apologies for hijacking the thread and may I say how much I like your conversions and painting. Great job.
-
Unfortunately, I still can not say anything new about the Asian Division of Baron Ungern.
-
Some colorful characters.

Is it just me or did the last photos not work?
-
Not just you, need re-loading.

I try again. I think the problem is in the URL of the image that not finish in jpg but with /, I don't know why.

The promise cossaks.

Another picture.

Another.
-
Brilliant love these. Just looking at some figures for the other side of the continent at this time. Poles.
-
Excellent painting :-* :-* I really like the gray horses! Could you give some tips on painting them?
LB
-
I use acrylic tempera colors of different companies. I start using a medium gray made of white, black, ocher yellow and a little brown. Then I wash with black (valleyo), then subsequent shades adding white to the initial mixture.
-
OutstanDing work.
-
Thanks Constanzo! That was very helpful.

-
Really exceptional work. :-* Maybe is the time for a mortar or some armour ?
-
Well those were worth the wait!
Very nicely done!
-
Respect. Amazing attention to the historical relevance!
-
Simply outstanding. Brilliant work. Great research converted into a wonderful tabletop army. Well done fella!
-
Really a super collection of figures.
Love your use of color.
-
Superb work :-*
Could you tell us :
=> Where do you have found the flags of these cossacks !?
=> Wich colors do you use for the tunics of these cossacks (Khaki green & Khaki - maroon) !?
Thanks !
Byblos
-
I found the flag of the cossacks in the web, but I can’t tell you where because I lost it with my previous computer.
I painted the tunics of the cossacks starting with Vallejo Russian green mixed with yellow ocre and adding white.
Now some Tibetan cavalry, very fun pieces to paint.
-
Others two.
-
Another very nice unit :-* :-* I have wanted these fellows for a long time but just seem to constantly need more Chinese. Great painting!
-
Just brilliant.
-
Thanks to everyone for appreciation
-
Your stuff is amazing to look at, it's making me envious. So, when do we see the Reds or Chinese he goes up against? ;)
-
In my fantasy, there are still several things to do to complete the Asian Cavalry Division.
-
Embrace the fantasy!! lol lol lol

The miniature figure of Ungern Von Sternberg sold buon Copplestone is caricatural. So I made my Baron looking at history, at the photos but also at the fascinating drawings of Ugo Pratt
-
The rear.
-
Another shot.
-
Last.
-
Very, very nice. who's figure is that?
-
Great work, particularly on the Chinese style robe. Much as I love the Back of Beyond range, I have to agree about the Copplestone Mad Baron figure, which just looks plain silly however well it is painted.
-
Great brushwork and stirring stuff indeed!
+1
-
Dissatisfied with the grotesque Copplestone’s piece representing Baron Ungern Von Sternberg, I modelled the figure on a piece of the same firm, a mounted Mongolian. Knowing he wore coats in several occasions, I mixed Ungern looking by historical photoes and the fascinating image Ugo Pratt gave us. The Baron dressed as a cossack in 1918 and 1919, in 1919 he married a Chinese princess, from there he wore Mongolian dress with Russian contaminations. In genuary 1921 he wore a red jacket with blue trousers, in february 1921 he was designated Khan. Two of Khan’s privileges were to wear yellow dress and to have yellow bridles. So I represent Ungern, riding his magnificent white horse Stepnik.
-
Very cool miniature, I really like the colors of the horse!
-
This is the Baron for Ugo Pratt.
-
Great work in this thread :)
-
