I painted these Steel Fist Miniatures Samurai over the last few weeks. I have to say I quite enjoyed the experience and they were a pleasure to work with.

I also like the overhead shot, not something I think I've seen before.

Lovely work, still got a few to do myself

Lovely work!
I really like what you have done with the patterns on the cloth trousers and texture of the armour. May I ask if the lightning bolt square sashimono is that of a historical figure?
Also, did you drill out the sashimono holder or 'shave' the poles supplied by Steel Fist?
I am starting work on some of these myself and am still a little daunted by the amount of detail in these miniatures.
I plan on using these images as inspiration.

Pass. To be honest, I flicked through the book 'Europa Militaria Special No. 14: The Samurai' and modified a flag design shown in a photo on page 92. The caption for the picture reads; "The Soma festival is called 'the festival of flags', and no one rider carries the same flag. There is a flag list book that samurai groups can choose and register which one they want." So, my flag being a modified design, I don't know if the example shown in the photo is historic or accurate, unfortunately.
Here's a photo from the same event, but different to the one in the book. It does show the same flag, however.

I drilled out the holders. The sashimono and red leaves/feathers/whatevers* are the original cast metal that comes with the miniatures. The other two poles are actually steel pins, cut to size and superglued.
*obviously I don't know what they're called lol
