I'm kinda cross posting from the workbench, buit it seems this would be better here.
I've been stuck in a funk of epic proportions of late, but here's some skellies I got done a week or three ago. All of them are Otherworld except the boss skelly who's from GW.
Now to get some adventurers done :?
Photos sabotaged by Photofuckup, see below
And a group shot with the BronzeAge Skellies

These are among the top skeletons I´ve seen yet! Excellent work on that liche lord!

An up date and a recap.

Great painting - and astonishingly good faces!
-
Yep, these are great - who's the big monk guy with the beard?
EDIT: Found him - thought he looked like Tre's work, and I was right! (Friar Stone, Reaper, Tre Manor)
-
FANTASTIC! Your miniatures & scenery are BEAUTIFUL; WONDERFULLY crafted & painted creations...I am impressed. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Brilliant!
-
Some seriously nice paintjobs. Also like the terrain. Where did you get those pillars from? Or how did you make them?
Keep it coming, at whatever speed it may be. :D
-
Top rate painting in this thread, the muted shades and mix of colours work really well.
-
How did you make the columns?
-
Very, very nice work. Another thread subscribed to.
-
Your minis look fantastic, thanks for posting!
-
They really look great. Thank you for sharing them!
-
Great evocative paint work! I love the subtle colour-coding of the warbands too.
-
Awesome thread! Always love your work? Howve you done the labyrinth?
-
Thanks for the feedback folks.

Gotta love Tre's sculpts, sooo much character to them.

They're made out of wine corks, cut in half then pinned together. They are then glued on to washers and then finally a lipped base.

Thanks Dijit. There is a thread on the workbench board about the labyrinth, but as is the case with so much other stuff, Photofuckit killed it. The walls are cut from expanded foam insulation sheets, then carved and textured. I cut recesses into the bottom of them and stuck 2 or 3 washers in each wall section to give them some weight.
-
Nice warbands. :)

Very effective recipe for pillars!
-
Gotta resurrect this thread so we can see them again. Great painting and a fantastic choice of figures for your warbands. My personal fave is the female cleric (less is more), but they are all equally well done.
-
Treasure!!!

Lovely little resin bits from Ristul's market.
-
Quite a nice thread, here with skillful craft on show. Ristul's is new to me so I'm taking a look.
-
Love the treasure!
-
great treasure tokens! :-*
-
Hi.
Finally got around to finishing some more fantasy scenery.
Gw ruins of Osgiliath supplemented with some bits made from foam. Hope you likee :)

A question. What do people do to protect their painted terrain? Do you varnish it? If so wih what?
-
Easy!....don't let anybody else play! :D
Great table! :-*
-
Cracking 8)
A question. What do people do to protect their painted terrain? Do you varnish it? If so wih what?
Be prepared to touch it up every now and again although considering it's usually me who damages my own terrain it's not a massive problem lol

Posting up what i painted over the summer.
First, Hasselhoff Not Disney ripoffs, lovely sculpts, as to be expected from KW.
This one is my fave, Mërida.
Bought them on the pretence of them being for my daughters, but I think we all know that they're never gonna get to play with Daddy's dollies. lol
This one was a Reaper promo, she's a great sculpt bar the titty armour, for which I can see no logical explanation other than pure titillation. I'll get my coat... To me, she's become little Red Riding hood, the 'little' being irony, as she towers over the hasselfree figs. Wolf to follow.
Next up, these GW skellies from their Warhammer Quest line. You can say what you like about GW, but the way these figs are engineered to fit together off the sprue is a thing of beauty. To my mind, there is still nobody making better platic sprue based kits, although there are many who can give them a run for their money on single character figs. (W Artel, I'm thinking of you!)

And finally, some dungeon vermin from Reaper Bones, spiders and rats.

Amazing brushwork.

Nice work!

Great painting :-*
The Reaper Promo is my fave, is she somehow available anywhere?

I'm not sure. I believe she was a freebee when you spent x amount, perhaps she's now available. If not, I guess searching on ebay is your best bet.
Edit: just had a look herehttps://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Special%20Edition%20Figures/sku-down/01602#detail/01602_p_1_rb
So I guess ebay it is then.
Thanks for the feedback folks.

That’s an awesome collection and beautifully painted! I really like the variety of scatter bits ancient camp pieces. Actually everything, really! Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
-
Wow! What a collection! :-* Theres going to be some great games with them!
-
Cracking stuff 8)
-
Lovely work. I very much like your muted colour palette, it's highly effective.

It’s been too long since I posted any work on LAF
It has indeed - great to see you back again.
Beautiful looking minis as well, as Steve said, love the muted palette, particularly like the flies and camp

-
Lovely stuff. I especially like the river sections.
-
Some excellent stuff! Love those orcs! And the campsite is brilliant
-
Thanks for the feedback folks.
-
nearly missed all this loveliness.
Wonderful work.
-
Fantastic thread! I see lots of figs for Joe McCullough games! I've also fallen deep into his systems. Beautiful beautiful painting!
-
Yeah, always glad to see this thread updated. The output is tremendous.
-
Amazing tread. I love the muted but rich color.
Loving your terrains too.
Starting a Ranger of shadowdeep campaign, I need to ask you how did you make these amazing bedrolls/duvet ? The texture is so nice !
-
So much good stuff! I thought the same as you about those Reaper Orcs, and I think so even more after seeing your paint jobs! The buildings are great too, and the poses of those kit bashed corpse markers are unpleasantly convincing.
-
lovely work; glad you've got the thread going again.
-
That’s great work all around! I’ve been building figures from the barbarian box recently and yours are inspiring.
-
I'm a month late, but just saw your most recent stuff. Awesome!
Could the rat swarms be from Reaper?
-
Yes, I believe the rat swarms were actually from Reaper.
Thanks for the feedback.
Here's a couple of quick pre varnish snaps of some orcs to get my foot in the door for Orctober, so to speak.

-
I love these! Excellent painting and your choice of colours really sets a great tone for orcs. The boss looks like a Lund sculpt, but are the others by Bob Olley (from Ral Partha ranges)? I really like the sculpting style.
-
Those are fantastic orcs love the sculpts and your painting has certainly done them justice. Very inspirational indeed.

You're bang on, good eye.
Thanks for the feedback
-
Not seen this thread before. Lots of nice painting and scratch-building. I might have to try making some of those wonky columns and a swarm of flies at some point.
-
Don't think these orcs have ever looked better. Nicely done with great harmony and weathering.
-
Thanks for the feedback gents.
-
Those are lovely Orc figures. Well done
-
Those Ollie orcs are lovely. The muted colours really works on them.

Gorgeous work on those! They all look excellent!
-
I'm liking those orcs a lot!
-
Beautiful! I've seen those fantasy Star Wars minis before, and yours look fantastic!
Quick question - where does the female smith with the hammer over her shoulder come from? It's a lovely miniature. Really enjoying your painting on these!
-
It is always a joy to see your painted minis!
-
Another brilliant thread. Inspirational work, I love you painting style and color palette. 👍
-
Thankyou for the feedback.
Quick question - where does the female smith with the hammer over her shoulder come from?
She's an oop Guildball figure, previously produced by Steamforged games, first in metal, then in plastic.
She pops up on ebay now and again, you're looking for Guildball Masons veteran chisel.
Happy hunting.
-
I like your style very much. Those orcs are brilliant, but it's the animals and the rangers which really blew me away. The paint job on the female ranger especially seems to bring her to life. It's beautifully done.
-
Thankyou Old Hob.
-
Absolutely amazing paint work there. I was particularly impressed by the dogs, but all of them are works of art.
-
Yes, the beagle in particular struck me as an amazingly well-done paintjob, with nice feathering and overlapping coloured patches to really give that effect of a beagle's mixed coat, where others might have just painted on blocked-in spots and called it a day (and fair go to those of you who would lol ).
-
All great, but I particularly like those orcs. Really well done.
-
Thanks Hubbbubba, I'll keep an eye out for her. Also looking forward to seeing more on this thread!
-
Hello, thanks for all the previous comments, you guys are very generous :)
Some new bits:
A terror wing for Rangers, some kind of floppy Reaper bones Demon that needed it's legs drilling and wire inserted before it would stand up properly. The mold lines on it, especially around the wings, bug me immensely, but the early bones material is such a pain to clean up that I gave up and now I'll have to learn to live with them.

I dug out these two old Grenadier fighters and gave their old paint jobs a bit of a polish.

An old dwarf sculpt, I love the way his hairline meets his eyebrows. I don't remember which line it was in originally, but it's available from the most excellent Ral Partha Europe store on line.

Those all look excellent! I like what you have done with the classic Grenadier figures.

Cracking work 8)

That ankheg/centipede type critter is an awesome sculpt, set off most wonderfully by your cracking paint job - great work!
-
That Dwarf is a sculpt by Nick Lund. I love your brushwork :-*
-
This thread is a treasure trove. I particularly like the Otherworld Miniatures mummies - need to grab some of those sometime.

I second this last comment, the mummies are great figs, and particularly well painted, a real pleasure to look at.
-
Many thanks for the feedback. :)
-
As awesome as always, but that centipede-thingy is truly the stuff of nightmares!
-
I've just looked through this whole thread for the first time: it won't be the last! Lots of exceptional painting!
-
Thankyou gentlemen.
-
Love your use of colour and your painting is superb.

Thanks RustyT

OOh the crust skin on that centipede looks very cockroachy and realistic. Awesome work!

Plus one! :D

Very cool paint. :o
-
The cloth and the metal really sell these. Cracking stuff.
-
OOOOh very nice.
The subtle blue glow from the cold flames is a nice touch, but subtle to almost miss, it ties it in very nicely.
-
Very well done models. A nice dou
-
Thanks folks. I very much like Mr Gubser's work, I wish he'd devote more of his time to sculpting but he seems to be more focussed on his comedy.
-
I'm slowing doing some touch ups and repaints on some of the figs I painted before I got some prescription reading glasses, mainly faces and specific details that I can now actually make out more clearly ;D
So here's Ben and Leia again, ready to take on the forces of Shadowdeep.

I think I may be overdue an eye test myself! Those not-Jedi are fab.
I really like the orcish rabble. One of the best looking bunch of scallywags I've seen this Orctober.
-
That 'Ben' figure looks remarkably like the older Luke, lovely work!

Love what you've done there.

So cool, I really like the brownish colour scheme of the "jedi"s

My favorite ogre and you did it justice with that lick of paint!! Very nice.
-
Oooh, that’s a classy sculpt and a great paint job! I’m envious.
-
That ogre is very very impressive - a fine model and a wonderful paintjob.
And I also like your Orcs very much :)
-
The old Orcs are terrific; AND I love the Ogre's striped pants. OUTSTANDING WORK!
-
Those are some fancy dancy pants! Nice work!

Lovely painting 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you for the comments.

Lovely paintjobs on the wolves
-
I 100% agree with Ogrob, the painting on those wolves is excellent! Your colour scheme really captures the look of wolf fur.
-
Thanks.
-
Those wolves look great, that grey-brown-tan sort of colouring so many real wolves have is hard to get right!
Remind me where they're from again? It's possibly somewhere earlier in this huge thread but I'm missing it...

They may be the Otherworld Miniatures ones, now available through Crooked Dice. Sculpted by Snuurg if memory serves.
-
Missed this great thread.
Awesome paintjobs!
-
Thanks again for the feedback.
@ Wirelizard.
The wolves are from a mix of manufactures:The big one is GW, then there's the smaller ones from RalPartha Europe, the ones with very defined musculature are from Warlord's Erehwon South American line, and there's one from Reaper that's the companion to a female ranger, (the nicest of the bunch IMO).
-
Like everyone else has said, lovely wolves!
-
Some Reaper Bones Ogres, which forum denizen Rob painted and very kindly sold on to me.
I think the female may have been from Otherworld but not really sure.
I really like Rob's pjs on these, he used a flesh colour I would never have chosen, very orange. So much so that I shall christen them the Trumps so that might bring destruction and sow despair where-ever they roam.
I repainted the base rims, added some black lining and a few touch ups and details to Rob's painting, but pretty much all his work.
One thing that struck me is how big these brutes are, so much so that I may well play them as hill giants rather than ogres. If you see the comparison with the old school Goodwin ogre and the Copplestone barbarian, you'll see what I mean.
Anyway, thanks again Rob.

Some really lovely painting on this thread, but not one of them could be fairly called snail-like. Here let me donate a couple of images:

Sadly I don't have the variant with the really cool spiky shell. Maybe you should do one. What fantasy minis collection is complete without one of D&D's goofiest monsters?

Those look great, but please tell me they're not 3-D printed. They'll be snapped off their bases in their first game, if so... :(

No, they're GW's usual styrene, but even so I can see myself sticking them bacck together on a semi regular basis.
-
Magnificent as always. I've got some of RPE's Braggu demons queued to serve as Distorts, come ghosts, come demons.
The thread is stunning. I particularly like the Otherworld wraiths you did back in January. :-*
