Title: Indian Mutiny wargame

following the beautiful figures of Ironduke Miniatures, I'd like planning units for this period.
I don't know which set of rules use but I like very well painted figures and stands like little dioramas.
I don't like single figures basing system.
What do you suggest me about ?
I looked at Ironduke miniatures gallery and I like his basing system with large stands but I don't know which set of rules it's used. I wrote to Ironduke miniatures but I have no answer.

The Men who would be Kings rules could be used using the 3/2/1 basing technique which would allow you to diorama up the larger bases .

Post by: WillieB on 30 June 2017, 03:57:58 PM: I am or rather I will be using Sharp Practice 2 for the Indian Mutiny. Excellent rule system which really captures the flavour. The IM armies are still a WIP so for the time being we're using AWI and FIW ones to get used to the rules.
However, I do prefer single based figures as the last thing I want to do is again re-base 900+ figures :)

Have you thought about sabot bases? A friend of mine 3D prints them for me (and other clubmembers too of course) and aside from being almost literally indestructible, the bases really blend in with them to the point that they are almost invisible.

The units in the game are mostly about twelve figures large and operate in groups,so some people use round bases 40mm for three figures,30mm for two figures and 25mm for singles :)

Dalauppror uses a 3/2/1 basing system for Lion Rampant and Pikeman's Lament armies. This picture from his blog (http://dalauppror.blogspot.ca/search/label/Lion%20Rampant) is a good indicator of what it looks like:

You can of course change base sizes if you want a little more room for diorama style basing; say, 25mm for 1, 40mm for 2 and 60mm for 3.

Post by: Rogerc on 28 July 2017, 06:54:19 PM: I personally like the idea od Black Powder for this period, they use stands so you can have any type of base you like. I have gone with this style for me Great Northern War collection with 80mm deep bases and 60mm wide.

So you "make change" when a figure is killed? ie a KIA from a 3 figure base means you replace it with a 2 figure base?

Not exactly. A 12-figure unit, for example, would be formed by 2 3-figures bases, 2 2-figures bases, and 2 1-figure bases. Thus, for example, if you suffer 1 casualty in a shooting attack, and then another in a melee, then you can either withdraw your 1-figure bases or one 2-figure base; but if later you suffer a third casualty, then you can withdraw a 3-figures base and then return the 1-figure bases as "change".

Actually, it is very comfortable to use, once you are familiar with it. The only problem is that it might be a little bit too specific for the rules family -Lion Rampant and its variants-.
