Title: My new thing, 40mm.
Post by: Inkpaduta on July 24, 2017, 01:09:53 AM
A while back I bought some of the Trident Designs Am Rev figures.
I was really blown away by them. A joy to paint. More recently I have
gotten some of HLBS 40mm Cowboys. Again, wow! I have decided that
I am going to get into 40mm figures. I am too a point that I just want to
do 1 to 1 skirmish type games and 40mm sounds really good. Next will
be Gladiators. My only concern is with terrain, buildings, trees ect. I really
don't want to spend tons on this but...

A lot of 28mm scenery works fine for 40mm - particularly things such as trees, dry stone walls, mud tracks. It's only really vehicles, buildings and certain types of fences which I have specific 40mm versions of for my stuff

I share your affection for 40mm. If I would do it all again I think I would only used 40 instead of 28mm. Check out Graven images, Front Rank and Sash and Saber ranges as well. I try to avoid buildings for 40mm and only use terrain. For the odd house I scratchbuild or use 28mm buildings but raise them 1 cm to match the height of the figures.
