I'm starting to talk about Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago over on my blog: https://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/the-first-heritor.html

Loving the hairstyle on that mini.
Will the weapons and equipment be similar to regular Frostgrave? Smith previously mentioned various fixed weapon combinations on the regular warriors. Just going through my collection (and various webstores) to gather a band to venture to the mysterious islands!

Nice miniature! I'm looking forward to more news about this game, I've already painted five jungle spiders and I'm working on plastic zulus and wargems factory woodland indians for some island denizens. Also today I saw some northstar proposition for Ghost Archipelago miniatures on facebook and bronze civilization sounds intriguing!

More info coming in the blog on over the next few days. Hopefully will answer some questions.
-
:D sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
-
Looking forward to it!

Well, I'm excited about the setting, but the minis so far aren't all that inspirational. Hope to see some new stuff that gets me going !

Another preview figure, and more thoughts about the game on my blog: https://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/portock-freebooter_4.html

I love what I am seeing
Will Wardes be some kind of magic users ?
And most important question will specialists earn experience ?
-
Yep, previous bits of information mentioned about different magic types that wardens are using: there will be air, earth, water, vines and beast wardens to choose from, each one with its own "school" of magic.
It seems that new crew/soldiers approach will work great, heritor will always have men to fill the party and there will more tactical decisions if replacing losses of specialists won't be possible between every game.

Very cool looking

A bit about wardens here: https://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/verith-wind-warden.html

I am really happy FR GA includes so many different aspects and subtle changes to FR.
-
Will we see an entirely new random encounter list? Any chance of tigers?
-
Yes and yes.
-
Any chance for fantasy conquistadors?
-
Apart from the helmet, I'm not sure what would make them conquistadors?

Thanks for the answers Joe. I hope I'm not being greedy, but one thing I love about the original Frostgrave is all the pets you can have. Familiars, animal companions, wardogs, demons, and constructs. Will we have as much variety in the Archipelago?
Which brings me back to that tiger. ;)

Smallpox?
I was mostly thinking about the helmets. Fantasy conquistador equivalents would be awesome.

Werewolf Miniatures made conquistador heads if I remember correctly. You can find them on eBay. They even had an ogre in a Morion helmet.

I am very excited to see this!

A long time ago I created an Estalian warband for Mordheim, using the Pirazzo's Lost Legion miniatures GW created a long time ago for their Dogs of War mercenary forces. I painted them up exactly like conquisadores, and they turned out quite nicely. The set allowed one to field pikemen and crossbowmen. They wouldn't be a bad choice, as they are equipped with the Spanish style breastplate and pouffy trousers and the classic bassinet style helms. Might be worth a troll through ebay to see if they'll work for you.
-
Check out Warlord Games Pike & Shot Wars of Religion. They have a plastic box of 24 minis and some metal models suitable for conquistadors. I don't have them myself but there's a decent chance that the plastic bits will work with Frostgrave minis as a bonus. Yet another set of minis for my wish list ::)
edit: Was just browsing Warlord Games store and they have separate metal morion helmets in a few styles.

I'm familiar with those, and always thought it would have been great to create an Estalian army, save for the price and lack of variety. A plastic set would be preferable for my needs these days.

Are they the same scale as the regular Frostgrave miniatures?
-
I'll be tempted to get the figs for this but with my large Rum and Bones board game collection I', likely to just use those...
Interested in the rules though.

Really looking forward to the Ghost Archipelago pre-order due to the exotic setting and solid Frostgrave rules. I have been busy for some months now, gathering a nice collection of info, videos and pictures in one thorough summary. Should anybody be interested you can find the link here https://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2016/12/northstar-miniatures-new-frostgrave.html?m=1

Can't say for certain as I don't have them. But Frostgrave minis are a bit smaller than my old GW minis and so are the various historical plastics I have including some from Warlord Games. I'm thinking the Warlord 16-17th century minis be a closer match than GW Empire in size. Might be wrong.
