Title: Wargaming 'The Wild Geese'
Post by: Chris Abbey on 15 August 2017, 10:27:45 AM
Over the last couple of month's I have been working away on scenarios, terrain and painting figures for gaming based on the 1970's action movie, 'The Wild Geese'. This thread is going to cover building the terrain, painting the miniatures and the scenarios and game stats and player aids for the game.

These are the prison / admin blocks for the barracks. I've made a base for them out of felt, which I've textured with sand and painted with emulsion to represent concrete path's and flocked the central area. The Simba's have been busy with 'blanco' on the stones in preparation for the Generals visit!

This is a view of the prison / admin blocks from the rear and we can see where the mercenaries have cut through the chain link fence.

Here's an overview of the barracks.
Off home now for play test of the 'Race for the Plane' scenario, so hopefully will have a few more photos to share tomorrow.

I'm really impressed by your work.
Both the figures and the buildings are first rate.

An..did the Colonel have roasted goose for dinner?  :)

Tomorrow, if you are going to Partizan. We should have a rack full off them that Dan is bringing along.
We have them on our Mike Bravo page for pre-order to ship on Monday when we get back from the show.

Here's a first look at 'The Wild Geese' at 'The Other Partizan' last weekend.
The game played really well with Combat Patrol and the figures and buildings were well received.

I took a load more photos during the day, so will do a write up on my Hobby Blog when I get a chance.
The ruins and shanties are hand made by 'Tinned Fruit' and Dan from Mike Bravo did a great job building and painting the 1/48th Dakota kit.

Bought all the range last weekend at FIASCO, excellent figures. Then I got to thinking who's missing, Father Geoghegen riding his donkey! I've just contacted Chris to see if he plans to get one sculpted... got to be a more popular model than Mrs. Thatcher!

;)

I kind of thought of this bloke, melon lopped of and replaced with a Perry Johnny Reb's head in a slouch hat?

Yes, that would work well. Is it a monk on donkey from Saga range?

I'll ask Dan what he thinks about adding character to official range.

We're now adding free bits of terrain to deals via stretch goals.
Kick Starter campaign end this Friday morning (22nd December).

A couple of people have written to me pointing out that the barracks, prison and airport can be used for so much more than war-gaming 'The Wild Geese'.

Prison sanctuary... The Walking Dead, for example.

The caveat was 'seems to have gone out of business', I hope they return, but I have tried over 20 times to contact Dan by email, telephone, Face book page, Facebook messenger and PM on LAF forum since July last year and I can see that he has read the messages but not replied, and we're his show stockist. My last round of messages ended 'We'll have to assume you've ceased trading, if we don't hear back from you', and we haven't heard back yet. If we ever get a reply, and Dan wants to resupply us we will happily take more of his stuff as it is excellent.

We have some Mike Bravo packs left in our store.
They are all stock controlled so what we have, is what we have left at the moment.
We are going to Vapnartak next weekend, so expect to clear a lot of the remaining stock then, so if there is something you are after, best to order before then!

Pleased to report that I got an email from Dan at weekend saying that after a hiatus due to personal problems he is going to be back in business by the end of the month, so we are expecting to have our racks refilled in time for Hammerhead which is our next show, so we will be setting up store in next few days to take orders for collection then. This is great news as we will have fulfilled all orders to Kick Starter backers by then and will have the full range of Wild Geese terrain available as well.

I received a refund from him yesterday by Paypal.
My order was sent last year.
Would like to thank him for the refund.
He also stated that he had had medical problems,
which he had to deal with.
Many of us have been in that boat.
Hope he has all sorted out.
I plan to do business with him in the future.
