From time to time, I like to push myself with new goals. Being chronically short of funds, I decided to combine the 2..... lol

Just 1 rule:
Find something in the range of free to 1 euro (adjust to your local currency and use a round number) and change it into something suitable for the tabletop....be it a objective, scenic or other gaming piece. It has to be the main part of the build, you can add bits and greeblies no problem, but you must still be able to recognise it. And that is it.
Post a before/after shot when done :) That's it, nothing more, nothing less :)
-
I'm sure I can think of something! :)
-
I'll be keen for this. I probably won't follow through but I'll try!
I like the stuff you have already made.
-
That would be pretty tough in the US but I'll take a peek around the hardware store.

No goodwill or thriftstores around? Yardsales? Or ask aruond for broken toys on local groups? That is how I tend to get and find stuff atm.
-
We have dollar or 99 cent store chains all over the US, so it shouldn't be hard to find something. I've certainly raided those places for bits before.
If you extend the notion to garage sales and goodwill shops the like, the field gets wide open.
-
Challenging! I'll be following this thread, searching for something suitable at the same time!

That was the idea, yes. Even the smallest rurual area here seems to have 1 or more 2nd hand stores nowadays. The 99cent stores I only see in the city, but I find the goodwill stores to be far more interesting hobby wise, you never know what you are going to find. Looking forward to what you will create :)

It's not unknown for me to rummage through the recycling (more intercept on route, than rescue)for materials for a project.
So I'll be watching with interest ,as its always fascinating seeing how people find inspiration for a new project.
Mark.

This should be a fun challenge! Unfortunately, thrift stores around here tend to have higher minimum prices than the challenge's limit. I do have an idea, but forget what the sale price was...
-
Here in Australia Daiso is AU$2.80 an item and dollar stores are called $2 shops here. So I'll aim around that limit. Had a quick hunt today and current contender is a 1:16 (or something) horse toy that's screaming for a howdah or something.
-
That's a cool idea! I love recycled and scratch-built stuff.
I recently found this interesting bit of packaging. It came with headphones and is a bit damaged but nothing that can't be fixed. It would probably be ideal for some sci-fi building in 10-15mm, but I'll try to find it a use for 28-32mmm gaming.

I found a Star Wars action toy at a drug store ( Kruitvat ) recently. Normally priced at 6.99, discount price 2,99 but as the packet had been opened, a spear was missing and closed after the ticket price was 1 euro. I hope this will be allowed in the challenge ;).

If it cost you nothing and up to 1 euro, then yes, go right ahead!

I got something !

Gonna see if I can make some nice 54mm minis out of them.
-
I'll have to find something to participate in this with... sounds fun. :D

I hadn't heard of the challenge when I did this, but this jellyfish toy was 35p (0.38 EUR) so perhaps it qualifies! I finished it this morning.

All I did was put it on a base and trim off the Made in China logo. And I've got 5 more of them ready to go as soon as I find some more 2p coins for the bases.

This sounds like it might be quite a fun challenge to do as my first challenge on here.

Maybe 50 cents in paint and glue?
-
Off to a school gala tomorrow so I may find something useful there. fingers crossed.
-
A good challenge and here is my humble offering:
A Lynx bodyspray cap-innards with golf tee = a communication array.
Button for same spray = a transport vehicle (for 20mm micro machien star wars)! :-)
Hope this meets the criteria as I am counting it as zero-cost as salvaged from my recycling?
-
I think it does - nice work.
-
Lovely work guys, keep them coming :)
