Title: The Valkhof Museum in Nijmegan

This year JJ's Wargames temporarily located to Liempde in the Netherlands for a summer holiday which included a visit to the great Roman collection at the Valkhof Museum in Nijmegan.

This post will be followed by a report on our visit to Xanten and the Roman collection they hold together with a visit to Haltern and the reconstructed fort.

The pattern of oxidation on that mask is interesting! Might some of the wear correspond to strikes by opponents' darts during cavalry sports...?
