Well, the title says it all really, £1.20 for a pack of 3, couldn't help myself even though I don't like Doctor Who...
On another note, what's with the rarity allocation? 1 Rare and 2 Uncommons... No commons? Not so common after all...
-
My ASDA had them at £1-99 same price as Sainsburys
-
Really? It was the first time I'd seen them in there tonight, aren't prices supposed to be the same across a chain?
-
Post a pic!! I might have to get some shipped to me from the motherland (we don't have Asda)

No. All the UK supermarkets have at least two bands of prices, relating to location.

Thanks Dexter! So they're what, 20mm high???

No, about 28mm, varying with the individual character, obviously.
-
28mm! How useful! Thanks. *reaches for telephone*
-
Aaaargh!
I went to my local Asda today, but didn't look in the toy department :'(
Hopefully there will be plenty left on Friday.
Need many more Cybermen and Daleks :)

Although they are very 28-30mm tall the Humanoid figures are very thin. In comparison to gaminng miniatures like Copplestone's they look like teenagers.
-
According to the packaging they're 35mm scale, though the werewolf I got was 40mm tall (base of foot to top of head) which works out nice for what I'll use him for...
-
Just noticed they're 99p a pack at forbidden planet, though shipping might make it more expensive (plus the random selection):

Oh thanks - we have a Forbidden Planet here
-
That price is likely only available from the website, unfortunately - seems to be part of some special sale...

Still worth a punt though, especially considering the price of Black Tree's Daleks and Cybermen. A bit of luck and there should be enough useful figures to make it cost-effective :)

The Daleks I posted here are Microuniverse: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=10293.0
I shaved the bases off and remounted on slottas - pretty easy as the plastic is quite soft. The gun/plunger barrels are very soft though, so I'd recommend replacing with stiff wire or plastic rod.
I bought mine on eBay - got about 20 for just under a quid apiece or something.
The cybermen are a bit flimsy for my taste, but the Slitheen are good, and very easy to chop and reposition arms to add a bit of variation:

(Second from the left is the original)
-
I like what you've done with the Slitheen :)
I agree the Cybermen are a bit weedy - the "real" ones look massively solid, but I'm a real fan of the new Cybermen. They are much more menacing than the old ones and until something better comes along I much prefer them to the BTD figures.
Happily the Micro U Daleks are just as good as BTD's and are compatible if you're not a scale freak ;)
I must look at evil bay for a potential bargain.

Gah, I don't like Doctor Who, but I like what you guys have done...
Mix in the pricepoint and I can see myself justifying it as just a 'fun' project...
Curse you once again LAFers...
-
Nice work Oxiana - they would be great for a Lovecraft-type game, Call of Cthulu etc
-
Thanks for the comments. The conversions were dead easy - the plastic is dead soft, so drilling holes to take some wire to brace the repositioned arms was no trouble. You just have to take care as the arms a bit thin, but it isn't really that hard.
Apart from the Slitheen and the Daleks, the only other Microuniverse I have are K9 and the Moxx of Balhoon. I have no idea what the Moxx might be used for in gaming terms - perhaps someone kidnaps him, but it's a jolly mini nonetheless:

Had an excuse to pop in today, they seem to have restocked the shelves so I picked up 4 packs...
They also seem to have added some spaceships to their stock too, but I forget how much they were charging since I didn't see anything I fancied...
-
And again with the rarity allocation: Having bought 5 packs now, I own all of the rares, but no daleks, and only a single cyberman... looks like I'm going to have to keep buying packs in order to pick up some generic baddie types...
-
You guys are so lucky , we dont even get the packets in our gaming shops here only some D and D or Starwars types :-[ did see some Herocliks once but they were gone when I decided to buy some. :'(

Well, they are very light weight, so it may be feasible to find someone over here with a good supply to get you a shed-load and ship them out to NZ.

I just bought nearly 100 Vietnamese at the weekend so dont think I should start another big project . I will keep an eye out on Ebay just in case some come up though.
-
Saw the 3 figure packs in a Pound shop today ,sadly they only had 8 packs left. They said they had gone through about a dozen boxes of them over the weekend.
-
I bought 3 packs and ended up with 3 daleks and 2 cybermen which I don't need and am keen to swap for 'human-like' figures. If you have any human-ish figures spare would you be interested in a swap?
Bought some more packs today and am now swimming in cybermen, but sadly few human types...
-
Asda have had a restock over Easter! Yay!
...and curse you all, my love for little men that come with checklists has led to me ordering two series of Who and the first series of Torchwood...

LOL
I've got some spare human ones...
2 Micky Smiths
Sarah Jane Smith
Clockwork Robot
2 werewolves and a Krillitane as well...
got plenty of cybermen, but wouldn't mind a Moxx of Balhoon, Slitheen, Ood, Autons, Pig Slaves or Judoon....
-
@AEG - Thanks for the interest but I've already committed to a swap with another LAFer :)
And they'll be posted later today. Sorry it's a little later than I'd planned :(
