Title: Frantically building a 15mm ark in Florida
Post by: Smokeyrone on September 08, 2017, 09:31:19 PM
My minis can't swim!  They're metal!

Got them in waterproof plastic cases, in a minivan in my garage

I'm in the "Catastrophic " damage zone.  :o

But I have a girl, 10 18 packs of beer, a bottle of fireball and a grill.  So I have a shot at survival.

It's the 20ft high glass sides of my house, and garbled roof that worries me.

I'll be back.  If the nuke power plant 5 miles away doesn't melt!

I have just shared your fear (but nothing really happens weather wise in this Melbourne). Wishing you and everyone else in the path of the storms all the best. Lives (human or otherwise) is the most important thing.

Been through two serious floods in my time. Be assured, life does return to order eventually.

I have been through some fierce typhoons on Saipan. This one looks really bad though. Stay safe, make sure that you have plenty water. Fill your tub and any extra garbage cans with water so that you can continue to flush the toilet. I have had to live without power for a month+ it was tough but it is much worse not to have water. All the best!

It's beautiful, man!  We are out back, fishing.  No clouds, a sky full of stars, zero breeze, and about  a cold 80 degrees!

Barometer  is falling fast, I can sense it.  And every bird cept for the Ibis is long gone.

Holy smokes, a gust of about 35mph just came outta nowhere from the North!  Weird.

Two minutes of high winds and rain, And now zero wind, clouds or rain@

Wish I could post pics.   I'll send them to a poster here, maybe he/she can?    My GF is like beautiful!  Way too hot for me
So I'm taking as many pics as possible of us until she figures that out.

If you have a dishwasher, remember that it is water tight. You may want to use it as a water proof safe. I imagine that you could pack a lot of 15mm minis or say a scratch built Terrapin Station in there.

Adviso: your dishwasher is watertight until rising water climbs above the level of its drainage valve, after which point it will fill. I've heard from friends who had to evacuate ahead of Katrina that this did not save their documents & photo albums...

Sorry.

Good luck and stay safe.

The flooding!

Just took a relaxing kayak ride down our street.

Tornadoes spanked us last night.  One house down the street is gone.    Found a couple full Sam Adams beers floating by.

My girl is stressed.  Im okay.  Im running low on cilantro.

 lol

New advisory to our community: "Stop shooting guns at the flash tornadoes"

Too late.  Already went through two boxes of shotshells.  (That's 50 rounds to you and me)

I shot at a tornado, it turned away.  Neighbor didn't shoot, and they are organizing a search party.

We ain't going down without a fight!

Stay safe!

Whilst I'm sure adding rogue bullets to the mix isn't great, I'd also be tempted to start shooting tornados because hey, what more damage can i do?!

Sitting in a chair, on cinder bricks, in the road,  fishing.

Caught 3 gar and a channel cat so far.

No power.  So, no lights.  I wish you all could see the sky with me.  NO clouds, just absolutely beautiful!  I see every star and planet!      Oh, and I'm in love with Amy

Just looked up 'alligator gar' and 'channel catfish' since we don't get anything nearly as exotic here in the UK (certainly not swimming around our houses!). I wouldn't want to meet them on a dark night. I hope they're good eating!
You and Amy stay safe and keep us posted...

Channel cats are delicious, and so plentiful now you catch them in all fresh Florida water bodies. But we let them go last night. Alligator Gar taste like lobster, but are a threatened species, so we always release them unharmed.

Still no power, but the water is reversing.  I'm kayaking to Antifuermos Pizza all u can eat Wednesday ape I am today, and I'm gonna end up on Vito's hate list.  Been dreaming of pizza
