Title: Pulp set up for my Son(in 36 hours.)
Post by: tin shed gamer on 11 September 2017, 12:02:57 PM
Quick back story to qualify my idiotic time scale.

My son games at one of our local clubs every Saturday. So on this Saturday just gone my Son asked me if I'd make him a Pulp table/set.
So ego flattered in Dad swagger mode I said sure son I'll have it done for your next gaming session. And off he popped to tell his mates at the club.
I sat down with a beer to watch the rugby smug as you like.
Then Mrs piped up 'you alright there clever twat'.
Now every married man (in Yorkshire) lives in fear of that tone of voice. It normally means you've promised something,or forgotten to do something (and more importantly she hasn't).
After mild panic and a mental check list. I broached a tentative 'wot ? '.
Then she burst out laughing 'You do know he's gaming on Monday night not Saturday '

Which is pretty much how I got myself into a 36hour dead line.

All the figures and the board(made and painted) in the time. Unfortunately I ran out of time to texture the bases. I managed to knock up five plot point marker which are still in undercoat.

36 hours !?

This reminds me I promised to my son to organise a campaign something like 36 months ago, which make me feel bad. This was the kick I needed and I'd rather get on with it!

It would take me 36 hours to complete one - perhaps two - of those miniatures. I have a TTCombat Dungeon sat on my desk that has been slowly edging towards completion over a course of weeks - and that's just to do the painting. To you, sir, I doff my hat!

Dinohunterpoa has it. Bravo sir.

The table is lovely, but I especially love the look of the minis. Each character looks like they have been chasing hard after their goals.

Amazing stuff, and all within 36 hours!  :o I really like the unshaven look you've achieved on the figures' jawlines.

Good lord! That'd be impressive if it was thirty-six days work, ever thought about becoming a painting service? ;)

Glad you like it,
It's amazing what you can advice with experience, short cuts, and absolute blind panic.
The only building/plot point made on the day was the weather station.
The Crescent root railway station was kindly sent to me by Cotton eyed Joe.The palms are The Tree fella.
The plane is on a tales from the tin shed thread. The original took around 19hrs20mins.I've made six more since then (I'm not going to say how much I've shaved off the time since then).
I also got a bit clever with myself and did a test vehicle. Then realised id missed two figures out.,being a smart arse .

There's no real voodoo on this project only a simple and limited colour pallet. Eg. With the exception of one figure all the figures use the same grey for stubble, and clothing, its also the base colour on the paved areas of the board which in turn is a pasting table with gorilla tape around the edge and the furniture repositioned .(plus re using the legs as bracing bars.)
As for commission painting I do (only a limited amount) Most of my time is sculpting time be it private or commercial commissions.
Fram, don't tell anyone but I've still not finished painting the Ether flyer model.in fact I've not touch it since June.So that one is seriously dragging its heals.

Mark.

Great work, that set-up looks superb! I bet your son was well-pleased with it.

Not just in Yorkshire either! I married a Yorkshire lass and that tone is quite often heard in rural Devon as well! Just ordered the two packs of your Pulp Adventurers from 1st Corps after seeing some painted here. They look really good.
