Title: Hail Ceasar
Post by: Dez on 13 September 2017, 02:55:18 PM
Friends! I had a question about Hail Caesar. How is the game implemented a Short Range indicator for non-rifle units? For example, a warband or a heavy halberdier? For pure hand-to-hand fighters, it's understand, is it support, but, for example, a warband? There and hand-to-hand fighters and with javelins?

If I understand your question correctly, the Short Range value for a unit which did not either have skirmishers from the unit fighting in front of it or any form of missile weapon would have a Short Range value such as 3/0 where the first number is for supporting attacks and the second is the ranged attacks. For units where a single digit represents the Short Range value it is used for both.

Thank you. That is, having in the profile, for example a warband, a short range 2, do I have to roll 2 dice before the collision?

If you are talking about Closing Fire then no. Only units with a Long Range stat may use Closing Fire and they use that stat for the number of dice rolled. Unit types that typically discharged missiles when charging into a foe have that incorporated into their Clash Stat so is part of the initial melee.

You are welcome Dez. BTW, if you have any other questions about Hail Caesar you should check out the Hail Caesar sub-forum (http://www.warlordgames.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7) on the Warlords Games website. Big Al is very good about answering questions and is very familiar with the rules; far more knowledgeable than me.
