Title: Starship Engine
Post by: Froggy the Great on 02 April 2009, 09:40:04 PM
A co-worker gave me the motor from an electric drill the other week, and said I needed to make something out of it, so I did.

This is designed to be placed against the wall of whatever terrain you're using.  It can be placed horizontally and be inspired by Firefly, or vertically as inspired by Star Trek.

The long portion is 8" long, and the short portion is 3".  Width is 4".

I love the piece but it's also funny that your co-workers know you well enough that they are seeing the potential in their junk.

Wicked kool there indeed my friend. Good use of discarded items and a bit of imagination. :-)

I was also curious to know what and where the minis came from?

LOL Up till last year i worked in a computer retail store. The Tech Shop caught on at some point and started to keep every little thing waiting for me to walk into the shop. It was always nice to see their faces when they handed me something and asked what could be done with it and i give them a few ideas. They acted like not everyone collects odd pieces for their bitzboxes.   :-)

The figures are all from Reaper's Chronoscope line:  Kirby McDowell the Not-Jayne, Rosie the not-Kaylee, and Jake Ryan the not-a-good-fit-for Mal.  In the vertical shot, there's a Reaper Toolbot in there somewhere.

What a great idea!! I'll have to tell my wife...don't throw anything out unless I approve...like she'll listen to me!! o_o

Actually, she is starting to see things in certain items, and I am finding them available on my painting table...kind of cool at times, especially when I would have tossed it into recycling, until she says, you know you could probably make ____ out of this!! :-*

Regards and thanks for sharing!! 8)

that's really nice, but you have to paint it, as well as any other scenario

Normally I do paint these, but it just seemed right without painting this time.

Always wondered what they looked like on the inside. Be definitely having some fun when mine does finally borrow under. That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing.

I hardly think that if you paint it that will improve a lot... I mean, you can add shadows and rivets and dirty... :) 100 times better!!! :-*
