Hey all, so I am going to be having a night out a week at the game store and may not always get to play campaign games of Frostgrave but I am still stoked on playing it.
What would your enlightened selves suggest to make the most rich single play experience of Frostgrave?
I figured Ulterior motives was a good call?
Any other suggestions/ house rules? I understand Frostgrave really seems best as a campaign game and I respect that, i just want to ensure if we have to play it as one-offs we are playing it to its max potential as such!
cheers!!

One-off FG games are great fun if played as 'who can grab the most treasure'.

I hear ya... so no ulterior motives?
Maybe the better questions to ask would be, what is the ideal frostgrave demo game?
-
I've only tried UM once, but it was fun, so if your players are up for it then yes, add it in!
I'd either go for a standard treasure grab, or a simple scenario like the worm hunt.

I think UM would be great for a one-off game. Maybe judge the winner by XP rather than treasures and up the value of the UM goals a little bit to make them more important but still not required to win.

Haven't played Frostgrave since January 2016 so I'm a bit behind the curve. What publication is Ulterior Motives in?
Thanks

Here you go. It's a fancy pack of objective cards.

Thanks for that. A nice idea and not too difficult to make one's own version I imagine.
Food for thought.

The Basic Frostgrave Rules are for one off games...
Then you have the scenarios to make a Narrative Campaign.
I don't think you'd run into any problems playing the scenarios as one off games but you loose out on one of the coolest aspects of the game; leveling up your Wizard! The Ulterior Motives card seam like they were designed to spice up the Campaign Scenarios after you have played through them a few times. Again, they could work on their own... they are pretty clever. But you'd still be missing out on the leveling up.

For a one off, yes Ulterior Motives, probably played using the Keep scenario - the one with the magic discs that transport your people to different ones, that's always a laugh.
