For those who haven't yet heard, Revell (Germany, at least, but potentially in other countries, too, depending on the license) are releasing licensed kits of HALO vehicles, notably a Warthog in 1/32 scale and, possibly more useful, a Pelican dropship in 1/100.
https://www.revell.de/en/products/halo.html
They are listed as "Level 2" with sound effects, so will probably be snap-kits along the lines of the recent Star Wars releases.
I don't do 15mm Sci-Fi (yet), but that dropship looks quite nice and could be useful to fans of that scale.
-
That looks fantastic for 15mm. Great tip! Thanks
-
Here's a review of the Pelican

-
Nice...easily big enough for use with 28mm also. Might have to look into one of these...need some generic shuttles for sci-fi gaming.
-
Went to a local model shop. Apparently, the RRP is 39.99 Euros for the dropship, which puts a bit of a dent in my enthusiasm. I'll probably wait for reviews to come up first.
-
OUCH. That is expensive.
-
Tower Hobbies (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LNGRZY) in the US has it listed. in stock, for $29.99USD. I've never dealt with Tower, but also never heard bad words.
Certainly simple enough for even my fingers :D though I'd quibble about the 'nice' panel lines. There are lines, and useful, but consider them sparse and deep. Perfectly normal for a snap together, mind you.

Yep, it appears to be $30 USD on numerous sites.
-
Well, I guess if you play the (now defunct) Spartan ground combat game it'll be a useful buy & not terribly priced when you look at the 1/300 one they sold for the game (despite the game being 1/100). With a decent paintjob it'll look less toy-like & though the sticker insignia aren't great I'm sure something better can be found.
-
£33.99 naturally got one. Very nice and considering the prices of the Spartan games one's now.
Phantom on the way too apparently
-
I may well hold out and see what the Phantom is like (had to look it up). I'm always looking for a cheapish space kit I can kit-bash into an Eldar shuttle and that may do the trick.
-
was excited until looking at the built models on the site...cheap and nasty

I think they can be made into stunning pieces with some TLC. A straight up paintjob instead of the bare plastic would already do wonders.
Imagine what the likes of Dwartist could achieve with such a kit for instance... 8)
Although the price is a bit steep, it still is a large kit. Also; I'm in no hurry and I'm almost certain I will be able to pick one up for much less in a year's time. And one of these would not go amiss in any 1/100 scifi collection! ;)
-
Arghhhh why didn't I see this BEFORE hitting Hobby Lobby today and seeing this kit.
I didn't know the scale when I looked at the huge box wondering if it would be big enough for 28mm.
Then I just been told it is a 1/100 kit, I get the review linked to me and watch it and then come here.
Back to Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. Retails there at $39.99 but guess I can live got it for $24 and change.

Thanks!
I'll print out a coupon and check to see if it's made it to Nebraska, yet.
AND, look through the clearance. Usually a waste, 'Oh, look, 40% off. If I'd wanted it at that price, I'd already have it with a coupon.'
OR, one of the things that are 50% every other or third week. ;)

Hey Grim - where do you get the 40% off coupon? I know I've heard about it, but where do I source it? In the store, online?

But go to www.hobbylobby.com and get the 40% off coupon.
Got to get back to Hobby Lobby to get mine.

You done yet? You have had like a day. :-)

Weird, I just saw a phone coupon denied at Hobby Lobby. Apparently, you can get those from other coupon sources, but you have to use Hobby Lobby's app to get the right code. Me, I always use the printed version, when I bother any more. My phone ain't of the smart variety.
Which I didn't when I checked it out, so didn't score this yet, but found a small kit version of Space 1999's Eagle for less than $10USD, so definitely did that, along with few other odd bits. Best I've done there in a long time.

Usually thecashiers have a copy at the register. They just need the code on the coupon.
HL doesn't use other company coupons. Michael's, Josnnes and A.C. Moore are all interchangeable but not HL. But don't know why you had the issue. Just go straight to their site next time I say.
But good news for me the GF had to go back I got my first one.:-)

What a great idea, Grim!...unfortunately I already have one and wouldn't want to deprive you of yours for the several weeks (months? - Still haven't finished the resin one!) It would take to complete! Anyone interested in commissioning a set of decals?
-
That Pelican Dropship looks excellent... and not too much of a stretch for a 28mm Space Dwarf/Grymn aircraft as well :)
... just paint the cockpit glass and seal up the hull.
-
It's absolutely workable in 28mm --- the scale is perfect for a small shuttle. I'll probably swap out the wings or add some components to shift the aesthetic a little bit. EDIT: NOT MINE! :D
DOUBLE MEGA EDIT: Not the Revell kit, but another 1/100 Pelican

Wow; very nice! 8)
I believe he goes by the name of Steelworker (or Scrapwelder or something along those lines), but he has posted many conversions of smaller scale ships and planes with the cockpit area slightly altered to be suitable for 28mm figures.
From the looks of it, that would definitely be possible with this ship as well!
-
That's not mine :D Just a shot showing the scale pretty well.

Is that the 15mm one from Spartan?
-

Yeah, that was their official showcase model. It's also a proper D77. My only issue with the revell kit is it's the D79 from Halo 4 & 5, which is far more rounded and has a different shaped cockpit more like a Hind D that I'm not fond of. It's unfortunate that I waited so long to order from Spartan Games, since they went out of business, I had been putting off purchasing the resin one for months figuring I had all the time in the world
-
Nicely painted one here http://www.tanksandtrolls.co.uk/Halo%20Ground%20Command.htm
I have both the Revell and the Spartan Games resin version. Looking into commissioning decals...
-
Ah, sorry, you guys are right - I can see the different cockpit now, etc. I'd assume they're close to the same size --- but my bad. It showed up under image search for the Revell one.
-
Starting a WIP - totally OOB. (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=104469.0;topicseen)

He is the one they call Ironworker, and he does indeed modify all kinds of spacecraft for 28mm use. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from his posts. ;D :D o_o
