Title: Painting Guide(s)
Post by: Kelgtar on 16 October 2017, 10:10:25 AM
Hey
I usually only painted WW2 stuff .. but I fell in love with the Hail Caesar starter set.

However I never painted Imperial Romans nor Ghauls.

Any good pointers, painting guides, etc etc around?

Best guides for some things is to look up the Wargames Soldiers & Strategy youtube channel and look for minis similar to what you want.

You could also do web searches for "28mm Early Imperial Romans" and "28mm Gauls," and look over the many pics of other gamers' armies.

Have a look at Osprey publishing they do a lot of informative books on all things military, reasonably priced and always with some good illustrations.

This is an excellent site for clothing colours. He matched actually dyes found in Anglo-Saxon archeology and used by a woman who dyes authentically and then matched the colours to Vallejo and GW paints. Just a few paints per pallet but the pallets are divided up between the seasons and seasonal dyes, I gather.

This may be of some help:http://1000footgeneral.blogspot.de/2012/09/dark-ages-color-palettes.html
