Now, I know that I'm not alone in the wide world of wargaming to think when the Frostgrave Cultists were released that they'd make brilliant Chaos Cultists.
I bought one of the single frames from North Star a little while back for a Game of Thrones project I'm working on (that will appear later on, trust me), but I only used two of the bodies, so that left me with three left over bodies, and I also had a box of Cadian Shock Troops lying around too, so I put two and two together.
Sizewise, the Cultist bodies are close enough in scale to the Cadian bodies, although the body I chose is a bit lower because of his posing. The arms fit up nicely to create a nice dynamic pose for him. The body is plain enough that you can really paint the clothing as belonging to nearly any sort of environment/group/whatever you can think of, and I do like the capirote since it will always have that unknowable vibe to it. If I had planned it better in advance (or had more money earlier in the year), I would have ordered some of the heads from tabletop-art.de with the gasmasks. Hindsight, eh?
If I do any more, I'll either use the arms from the Genestealer cultists kits, or the arms and guns from the Renegade Militia Weapons kit, or the arms and guns from Victoria Miniatures or Mad Robot Miniatures to create a seriously disparate force.
My only real critique, and it's mainly because of my own folly, is that I could only attach the ammo pouches and grenade to the model instead of them and the other accouterments I had in mind.
Now, sadly, I'm having to do this a copy and paste job since apparently all of my photos of the model are too large for Lead Adventure to accept, and I have no idea how to get them smaller.

Looks good, I think most of the frostgrave lines could be turned into sci fi characters.
The new crewmen could be space pirates or scum from a hot planet,
The barbarians could be from a cold planet or early space wolves?
And the gnolls with guns be beastmen.

Not some bad ideas. I had the idea of the crewmen maybe being low level Necromunda/Hive Gangs... gangers.

Yes I think they would fit in with that an the rogue trader 40K era ,maybe Logan's world helsreach skirmishes?

Oh, very possibly.

That looks good.

I’ve considered using them as Fenrisian tribesmen.

When you preview your post you'll see the pic markup contains a horizontal and vertical size. Just edit it to the size you want. I often resize my pics to a half or third their original.

I must have done something wrong then since that didn't pop up.

I'm drowning in Cadian arms after building my Saurian army, they're yours if you can pay postage.
Great concept, I kitbashed my cultists with Warlord WWII Winter Uniform Soviets for my cultists, the sprue really has a lot of potential.

That... that is a very generous offer.

I thought about seeing if I could use their heads and other stuff for some feral looking finhret highlander guardsmen.

You could download a free app called "PIXresizer" - works a treat. Cheers, GDonk

I shall look into that. Thank you very much for the advice.

So I took another crack at building another Frostgrave Chaos Cultist. Again, Frostgrave body and head with Cadian arms and equipment.
I also finally managed to figure out what to call these guys: The Pale Ones. Crunchwise:
"A force of cultists picked up from a hive world attacked by the Children, which overthrew the Imperial government in a bloody coup. They devote themselves body and soul to assisting the followers of Nurgle, maintaining the myriad of weapons, armour and vehicles in the mighty capital ship, Exitium Vitae."
Also, a HUMONGOUS thanks to Gdonk to point me at PIXresizer, which greatly helped me with resizing these photos.

Those works great!
I was thinking about trying this for ages and you prompted me to action.
And Genecultist autogun/shotgun arms works even better, although they lack pronounced shoulder pads of the Cadian arms.

Yay! I inspired somebody!
And yeah, the Cadian arms don't really look right, but I just had them lying around and I wanted to give it a try. The next time I do these guys proper, I'll give them the right arms and guns.

Front and back view of my finished Chaos Cultist ‘sergeant’ using the Frostgrave Cultist sprue, Cadian Shock Troop kit and the second batch of Tabletop Art cultist heads (the ones with the gasmask), followed a picture of the three amigos together.
Okay, so the capirote on the Cultist head from Tabletop Art is… pretty damn big, compared to the ones from the Frostgrave Cultist kit, all of which fall a good few millimetres short in size. But I quite like, especially since I do plan on giving my Chaos Cultists a nice religious zealot feel to them.
Definitely am not going to use the Cadian arms again for them since it’s a bit… it just doesn’t work. Unless I damage up the shoulder pads, the weapons and the gear a bit, then it might work, but next time I’m definitely going to use some non-standard weapons and arms for them.

This one fits perfectly.. He is great!

I do think that the heads do work brilliantly with the models, and I'd love to see how the heads work with the Flagellant kit from GW.

Thank you for sharing this, I have a bag of Cadian arms myself (seriously, something truly horrible must have happened to a troopship out there for all of us to have so many!!). Was wondering how they’d look and now I know!

Glad to have helped. Personally, I think that the plain arms, while good, would look best if the shoulder pads and the clothing is beaten up and weathered a bit.

That's awesome. The Frostgrave heads do fit well (although the overhand of the hood is a bit of a pain I can imagine). I think I'll need to order a flagellant kit myself to see how the Tabletop-Art heads work.

Its one of best kits GW make conversionwise, os much fun in it.
