Decided my London needed some sewers. Given Pulp Ally is 3x3 we've plenty of space for some sewer exploration. Obviously its a perilous activity!
Plan is to have wide and narrow sewers. Wide being 2" and narrow being 1". The pics are wide.
The pipe walls are 2" downpipe cut into 3 and papered. The supports and base are laser cut
Dr Metropolis, Mr Holmes and Ludmilla Pachenko take a look at the newly constructed sewer pipe.

What a great effect - very nice! When you say papered, is that papier mache? Those bricks must have taken ages if hand-drawn!

It's O-guage brick paper from e-bay I was put onto it by owr very own Alcal when I asked on his awesome Stalingrad post.
It's like textrued wallpaper and the best source seems to be this chap in Greece

Rich,
I've got the same paper for a very similar project (Serpents tomb from Sally 4th).
I made this mock up for a colour, and texture test, and to see if it'd be comfortable on larger areas(it'll all be recycled). To the point does your paper have a similar issue with the image mesh when the pattern is repeated on the full sheet?
It's not an issue when the sheets are cut down to fit the 5cm walls. I was just wondering whether I'd a dud batch. Or if its a general flaw.
Mark.

I'd not noticed but yes very slightly.
Its not very noticeable on this red brick.
Perhaps a drainpipe or climbing plant?
-
Wide sewer pretty much done.
Add the inside of the corners, trim and tidy up then paint the 'fluid' lol
Then on to the narrow and junctions.
-
I made a miscalculation on the widths of the sections meaning the bricks ran the wrong way.
I thought I could live with it.... I couldn't! Ripped it all off and I've recut it and stuck it back on in the right direction!
I've also now got a lot more too... pics tomorrow...
-
Good idea, I like the overall look and will probably do this myself (in 15-20 years :))

Curses, having just started to make my own papercraft terrain, this tempts me towards textured walls, which of course would require everything else to be textured...
It looks very nice, and of course would have looked pretty good even without the reconstruction. Alas, this is not usually a hobby which attracts the 'it'll do-ers'!
-
Well I'm finished building most of it. Few accessories now needed...
-
Nice job and shows what can be done with this textured paper.

..shows what can be done with this textured paper.
...and a good deal of insanity.
Fortunately(?) this isn't somethiing in short supply around here... ;)

They look fantastic. I must not start building anything else at the moment!

Sewer manhole covers
-
Very cool! THANKS for posting.
-
You are more than welcome!
Suggestion I've had now is cells for the police station that have an escape tunnel linking up with the sewers!
Idea I had was that the above ground manholes don't necessarily match below ground.
When you first use a manhole it connects to a random ladder in the sewer.
That means you might find a short-cut... or you might not!
Obviously once the location is established it will remain.
Plan would be to put the major plot point in the sewers...or in the cells!
Perhaps have the major plot point as a terror in the sewer...!

Great looking Scotland Yard!

Thanks!
(It's actually the Public Carriage Office in Great Scotland Yard - but the book I was using for reference had it as the Police Station! o_o)

flippin' genius. longtime fan of the sub-terrainian blues.
Q: are the manhole lids commercially available or your own casting?
thanks

I laser cut them from MDF. They are a little thick, I should probably have done them from 1mm MDF.
I could probably manage to cut another set (in 1mm) if you wanted?

I've now built a cellar and most of the jail cells.
There are 3 cells and a staircase in jail plus an escape tunnel to the sewers!
Just needs cell doors and maybe a bit of furniture.
Cellar will get a ladder for access and a door to the sewer.
Just needs the ladder and door adding.
The system is getting a run out tonight, I'm thinking lost keys.
We need to 'liberate' a prisoner from the cells.
Doing anything other than walking in the sewers is perilous and the access point will be random.
Pics later!

Lovely set-up, the carriage house is a beauty (I assume it's one of your own laser-cut creations) :-*

M'Bongo must explore these tunnels of yours..
