Title: 75mm Figures: Waterloo 1815, "La garde meurt et ne se rend pas !"
Post by: Sascha Herm on 07 November 2017, 07:01:05 PM
Hi all,

I hope you do not mind me posting something not really wargaming related. I have finshed a Vignette featuring two brilliant 75mm figures from Alexandros Models depicting the French Imperial Guard's last stand at Waterloo 1815 and I thought I would share it with you all.

A lot of great detail on both figures. The flag alone took me nearly three days but it turned out fine I think. The weathering took me another day but it was very hard to "dirty" figures after finishing them so nicely ;)

I used "AK Real Mud" effect and various shades of Acrylic colours on the base and the figures to make it look more like they have been in real action on the Waterloo Battlefield on that fateful but very wet day in June 1815. I also used five different sizes of tufts, static grass, posidonia seagrass and others to give it more of a "wild field" look.

Well I hope you like them and please let me know what you think.

With kind regards

Sascha

Amazing paintjob! All the details pop!
You managed very well the face expressions, your work on the flag is outstanding!
Although you felt pity to dirt your figures, I would prefer the officer's boot to look muddier...
The whole work very well done! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your kind words. You are quite right but I just couldn't get myself to do more weathering  ;)

I get your point, as you made the whole work with too much love...
But look at the officer: He's got mud at his elbows, bandolier and knees.
It is a bit strange to have his -otherwise wonderfully painted- leather boots almost clean...

Wow Sascha! You really went for a big league. :o
Very good work on those  figures.
The amount of time you've invested there really stands out.

It's all beautifully done, and the flag is amazing.

I like the flag very much and the bagpack!
I dont like the questionmark expression on the flag bearers face.
But your painting quality is fantastic. Great job!
