Did everyone know this already?
Had an email earlier in the week saying that all Foundry's 2000AD figures are on a close-out sale with 25% off. One they are gone, that's it, they will no longer be produced... SALE ENDS 15 NOVEMBER.
I'm assuming that this is because Warlord now have the Judge Dredd/2000AD licence, and I'm hoping that some of the figures at least may make a reappearance, as people have suggested may happen to the old Mongoose figures. I dunno, its a bit of a stab in the dark, there.
Anyway, if there's any figures that you've been putting off getting now is the time to snap them up.

Happily, any that I was really interested in I have already managed to pick up, but there are one or two I may still go for if my resolve weakens before the 15th... o_o

I was at foundry today, they are very busy with 2000ad stuff!!! It's a great range and will be sorely missed
-
I bought a load at Crisis last weekend (since, on top of the 25% discount, they did a rather favourable exchange rate), and am struggling whether to also get the remaining handful I didn't (because I don't really like the sculpts or the characters depicted). I guess I'll get them for completeness' sake, too, curse my lack of conviction.
It's a bit of a pity, because I quite liked the range for the style and trueness to the source material, although it is not exactly a gaming range.

I smell a licence renewal to someone else.

I know what you mean Chris. I put all the big ABC robots in my basket and then, slightly hesitantly, added all the others just out of completeness.

Warlord got the license didn't they? After the Mongoose games (that they were distributing) went tits up, I'm sure they got the 2000AD license and were on about starting with Strontium Dog or something.
-
Not an AD2000 fan, but this still seems a shame.
These days it's a good bet that if an old line goes out of production someone will buy it and it might make it back into production.
However, with these, it's most likely that they are gone forever.

Yes, they did, that's why I mentioned it in my first post... ;)
And lead has proved stronger than weak, weak flesh already, just half a dozen figs but I feel dirty. lol
-
Ah, so you did :D
-
To the best of my knowledge Mongoose didn't go tit's up. They have just made the decision to not do figures anymore and focus on rules and rpgs I believe. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure they didn't go bust at any rate.

Trust in the healing power of lead.

Quick bump to remind anyone interested that this clearance sale is scheduled to end tomorrow Wednesday 15th November.
Last chance to buy those consistent and proportionate (i.e. non-Mongoose) Judge sculpts and lovely ABC Warriors.
C'mon people, don't make me be the only one to buy stuff I didn't need just because I HAD TO Damnit! lol
-
Don't worry, you're not the only one, JollyBob! I picked up some Judges, an Ape, and the CitiDef model too - I had been meaning to get them for ages, so I appreciated the heads-up! The Dredd mini - actually, both of them - is one of/are the best I've ever seen. The pose and the weight of the posture, if that makes sense, are perfect. Looking forward to getting them in the post and (perhaps!) putting some paint on them!
-
Thanks for the reminder. Picked up a Judge Dredd sculpt I hadn't seen before as well as the Ape & Citi Def.
-
Picked the Ape and some Judges, too!
I wanted them for a long time but always found them too pricey. Now I HAD to order AND they were discounted = double justification! :D

I just bought a few little bits and pieces and the 'Young Slaine' model came through without an axe head. When I contacted Foundry they said, for some odd reason, the model doesn't have one (despite the painted example on the site having one)! They said they're getting together a separately sculpted axe head to send out to all the customers who want one, but I think I'll make my own!
-
BTW I thought Warlord Games were producing models for the Mongoose Judge Dredd game but I couldn't find anything JD/2000AD related on the Warlord or Mongoose websites. I'm curious what will happen with the licence.

I bought "Young Slaine" a few years ago and it was the same, no axeblade.
Never knew that there should be one ;)
Not sure if the painted example is a conversion :?

Yes, Warlord have picked up the license, but they haven't yet started to produce anything for it. There were rumours of them doing either Strontium Dog or Rogue Trooper before relaunching anything Dredd related anyway.
I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with, even though I really don't need any more judges.
I also got the Don Uggie figure, which seems to have been on release for just a couple of months. Plus Max Bubba, Ukko the Dwarf, Toby the robodog, Nemesis and the Skullsword from Slaine. Hopefully, along with the already huge pile of unpainted 2000AD figures I have stashed away, that should keep me ticking over till Warlord get their act together.
-
I got the lot 😉

Yeah, apparently the painters have had to make their own! A very odd state of affairs that - I think I'd have liked to have it stated on the site that what you see is not what you get. It might not have put me off buying it, but the error (whoever made the error in the first place) really should have been corrected, or at least stated up front. Fair play that Foundry were willing to provide me with a replacement part, so I don't have a complaint to make ... it's just kind of ... odd.
