Title: Olde Skool Dungeon Crawl
Post by: Funghy-Fipps on 13 November 2017, 06:24:45 PM
It's been so many years since I posted anything on this board that this feels like something of a homecoming! I'm currently collecting and painting olde skool fantasy minis for roleplaying (currently running a campaign using The Black Hack! (https://squarehex.myshopify.com/collections/role-playing-games/products/the-black-hack-bundle-deal)). Hope you like what I've done so far: I've got plenty more on the painting desk so expect an update soon!

Great to see you back! (Long have I salivated over your 15mm Mayhem army ...)

Those adventurers are tremendous! How do you find the Black Hack? I've been using the Whitehack this year - best iteration of the D&D rules I've seen.

Ha! Just seen your blog post about Nick Lund's kobolds: I love 'em, and have a whole batch on the go as 15mm gnolls at the moment. Agree on his 'marmite' qualities, though.

Really enjoying it actually, although I have modified it by adding the Race and Class Hack supplements. Despite being only 20-odd pages we're really appreciating its stripped-down simplicity, which allows us to focus more on the story (or general PC tomfoolery, as is usually the case...). I am certainly intrigued by Whitehack having read some rave reviews and will doubtless pick up the Lulu booklet version soon! I'm especially interested in the character creation system it uses, which seems to differ considerably from most retro-clones.

Oh, and I can't wait to see your Lund Kobolds!

Grand work on the adventurers. Really taken with how well they show up with some careful (and finely coloured) painting.

Good stuff on the blog, too; pre-1985 miniatures are from my original gaming era, so I'll be watching with interest.

As it happens, I have the original (non-variant) White Wizard on my painting table at the moment; I'm reconsidering his colour scheme after seeing your version.

Looking forward to more!

The adventurer returns...

These are the dog's, if I may say so. I am always struck by how old miniatures can look radically better than their nude selves with a decent paint job.

Latest addition is an Asgard Miniatures 'Dwarf Adventurer'. More pics and fluff on the BLOG (https://forgottendungeons.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/asgard-miniatures-dwarf-adventurer.html).
