Title: best goblins ever!
Post by: madzerker on 15 November 2017, 10:22:56 PM
Sylvain Quirion is having a kickstarter for trolls and goblins. These are the most expressive goblins I have ever seen and I am looking so forward to painting them. Supposedly there will be many more (at least 20) as well as maybe a unit of trolls. Here is the link, I don't know how to post pictures here if someone wants to do it.

They are very good, like a slightly more 'grown-up' version of GW's goblin style, but without so much excess.

Tre Manor (Redbox Games) has been showing these on his FB page and they do look nice.

I agree. Those really are something special. Tre Manor did some great ones also, but they were too tiny! Hope that isn't the cast with these.

Nice enough, not to my taste.

Pictures would help the cause!

Very nice, but still too Games Workshopy for me.

seen them on facebook, and seriously cool looking!

I'm loving painting the RGB goblins, but they are very small indeed!

Yeah, these are really good. They have sort of a "Dark Crystal"-mood over them...

Lovely but what size are they? I got some Red Box goblins and was shocked at how teeny and cutesy they were.

These look great. I also have the RBG goblins. I really like how small they are.

Me too! Something different than usual, but totally natural when mixed with the others!
Apologies for the OT, though. :D

 :-* I love them!

They don't look GW-ish to me – I would rather say that they have a feeling of the old Citadel (and very early GW) pre-slotta very sympathetic Goblins
(before GW messed everything up and changed them from gently humorous to absolutely ridiculous)
of whom I still have quite a large horde.

...And I discover that this company is located in Brittany!! :o

...Which is not so surprising after all... I know many French gamers or collectors who still regret the old Citadel miniatures.

Does anybody know how they scale up compared to the RBG goblins?
Title: Re: best goblins ever!
Post by: Sylvain on 28 November 2017, 11:08:06 PM
thanks for posting this, and thanks for the tittle, even if it makes me blush  8)

according to Tre Himself, nothing scales with his goblins (though I'm sure I have some tiny ones around that would scale!), but I guess mine could be taller ones from the same specy, as goblins have a great variety of bodies ;) (maybe not according to GW models, but that's what I got from reading Tolkien and I'll stick to that!)

the goblin range from 22 to 25mm top of the head, and the trolls are 58 and 62mm tall

we have 9 goblins unlocked, next is a champion (just 2-3 backers away) and 2 Trolls, with a new option to get 3 trolls (one has an optionnal head and can be posed to get 3 different minis)

Very nice! I particularly like the gangly chap with the poleaxe.

Me too.
Unfortunately the only way you can get him is if you have the €75 or €95 pledges.
This campaign really needs a "pick/mix" type pledge, or at least an opportunity to vary the composition of the 5 and 10 figure lots.

thanks guys, yeah, GW's 90's night Goblins aren't their best goblins!

Me too.

I know, and that's why I mention this in the last update  ;):

Don't worry if you want him without a Goblin Invasion pledge, the new miniatures unlocked from now on will also be available as add-ons individually or in packs once we unlock a few of them!

Cool looking minis, but a little rich for my blood, especially that troll (which comes in at about $30 USD).

the Trolls are +/-6cm, and quite chuncky, I'll post comparaison pics with human miniatures

we now have unlocked a Goblin champion and the next stretch goal is the guard posted in the previous page

we also have new graphics to show what is in the Warband pledge (they are now 10 unique sculpts), and there is the option to pick individual models ;)

I have just pledged for a few to add to my Moonstone goblins.

There is a real sense of character and individuality to these guys, hopefully the locked Goblin with the club gets opened up before the end of the campaign.

As a long time Goblin Fan, I must say the the Goblins are WONDERFUL. They have a charm all their own, & are quite different from the others in Red Box's range.
The difference is not a negative in this case at all. A touch of variety works well with Goblins...I have a feeling the Little Guys will mate with just about any willing female.
I am also a fan of cartoonish miniatures. The older G.W. plastic Night Goblins are particular favorites of mine. I have done all sorts of things with them. My Goblin Faeries come to mind.
The new Fellow have an appeal to me just as the Old Hooligans do. They are just not the same style....different strokes & all that.

thanks!

just to be clear, these are from Aenor Miniatures, not Red Box Games (not sure if there was a confusion here, but Tre is a friend and shared my minis a lot!)

we have a new SG, a shaman! (still WIP)

and yes, the new spear guy has a bone hanging from his scrotch, but it's a litteral bone, like Goblins like to collect you dirty guys!

Thank you for the clarification. I do apologize for crediting your work to Red Box. Of course, the Little Rogues look just as WONDERFUL with the name right as they did when I got it wrong. VERY WELL DONE once again.
