They Look nice. Is it the flash that they look so glossy ?

Yes I think that's the problem. They have had a good coat of matte varnish.but ever since I started using cheaper varnish, my pictures turn up glossy.

I find taking taking pictures without flash gets rid of the shine. Do turn on every other light available, and sunlight doesn't hurt either.

Yes there's where the problem lies here. Not much light comng in (no windows where I paint) so always need a flash.

Nice work on these. I can never get the light exactly as I would like it when taking photos of mine either.
