Title: Epic 40k scenery - part 2 complete
Post by: MediumAl on 19 November 2017, 03:45:29 PM
In accordance with the Trades Description Act, I should state that it's the 40k that is Epic, rather than the scenery.

Even though I'm trying to dispose of all of the figures and models I have, I simply had the urge to raid the bits boxes to come up with some ideas for exotic terrain. First couple of attempts are here;

They look pretty epic to me!!

I do like the look of the lava, very effective. As you say on the blog the other style hasn't worked quite as well, but an interesting idea - it might also work using water effects with some colour below, to give some kind of Alien pool effect.

Do you have a link to the epic stuff you have for sale?

Thanks. I don't think I would do the second one the same way again. Wasn't all that confident but thought I would try it and see anyway. Going to try using cheap leds to uplight a couple of things - these might be better suited to that as they are translucent.

Part of me wishes I'd taken mor interest in it a long time ago, I think that it has scope for coming up with some great scenery and customisation, but I'm not going to get the opportunity now.

Nice painting there. Very effective. Are those asbestos trees? :)

Glad to see another botanist on the forum. As I'm sure you know, they are Bullshittifolia Asbestosis 'Orange Wonder'.

I am pleased to be able to offer seeds at a special price of £500 each, post free. To the untrained eye they look rather like acorns, but will readily germinate in any good quality heated propagator. A minimum temperature of 1500 degrees Celsius is all that is required.

Hi - second item underway. Normally I wait until it's complete and then post the link, but this one will take a wee bit longer so I'll post wips.

The link to the blog explains much. I still want a slice with a cherry on though.

Even I wouldn't want to eat that.

Appropriately, at the moment it's in the Dog's Dinner category. Good chunk of today's activity needs scrapping - need to come up with another cunning plan, methinks.

I like it, unpainted it reminds me of scenery from Space 1999 lol

Spooky - I was rummaging through the bits box and pulled out the landing pad from an old plastic Space 1999 kit.

Spent some of today removing some supposedly 'crystalline rock formations' from the model because they gave it a 'My Little Pony' look. Still not sure how to make those sides look interesting. Hopefully I'll have something to show tomorrow.

That is indeed spooky and I hope that you like it, however it ends up.

I wish I still had my Dinky Eagles though, my second favourite space ship design after the Enterprise and just before the Discovery from 2001

After a couple of failures, got something I am reasonably happy with, and hope there's an idea in there that someone will find useful.
