I decided to try some 15mm figures for a chance and decided to try to build a Parthian army for (Basic) Impetus. Impetus does not require as many figures as some other Ancients systems, which means less purchases and less painting :)
I tried to go the cheapest way, which meant Donnington Originals (they sell individual figures). I thought I'd get a whole army for less than 50 €, but ended up spending about 3-4 times that... some Donnington figures from my original order did not work out and I had to find alternatives; I wanted to check what other manufacturers figures look like; and I ended up purchasing the figures for a full Impetus army (500 points) including camp.
Donnington Arab Archers to use as skirmishers (figures for 2 bases):

I will paint a larger batch before I base these. I also am not sure if I put too much time and effort to them, considering they are 15mm figures. Colours might also be stronger? I have only 3-5 figures worth of previous experience in 15mm.

I have a few Sassanid 15mm figures so I am happy to see someone else going down a similar road. :D I like the sounds of an Impetus project ...

Looking forward to this develop. What range did you use for the camels?

Donnington :) Essex was another option, but I do not like the monopose riders. FiB Camels looked a bit weird to me and I dared not to even consider Xyston (possible size issues, also the camels are small).

I genera;lly like the FiB models but I agree about the cataphract camels. Have you seen the later Seleucid Arab Camels (http://www.forgedinbattle.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=126_161_158&product_id=500)? They don't look too bad.

I really try to finish the army at last - there are several units at various stages of painting :)

These look great. Amazing work for 15mm.

The War and Empire Parthian horse archers are superb sculpts

Spectacular, but try holding a lance one-handed at that angle!
