Have to agree, the launchers look great - can you please explain the painting technique to a novice painter (me) ???

Luvvverly :-*
I really like the chice of colour for the woodwork too. :)

Great models and the paintwork is indeed excellent, as are the bases! Good bases are too often ignored, in my opinion
Did those things actually work in real life? I know virtually nothing about Korean history- except Turtle Ships lol
-
Beautiful, and I really like your light woodgrain effect :-*

Thank you kindly. These actually sat on the workbench for about a fortnight whilst I deliberated how to do the woodwork.
I did it from a white undercoat with a base coat of Miniature Paints Golden Brown. Light wash, almost a glaze, of Burnt Umber poster paint followed by drybrushing of Golden Brown and Ivory working lighter until happy. I then lined in all the hard edges with Paynes Grey watercolour to finish.
Chatting to the Perry twins last week they told me these were often painted/lacquered too so it looks like I will have to get another pair to do bright red ;D

That model looks absolutely super!! Thanks for sharing!!

Quite lovely miniatures, also one of my favorite ancient Asiatic weapons. To answer your question, Gluteus Maximus, they did, but were most effective against a dense formation. They were also rather accurate, assuming the ones using the contraption were good at estimating the angle to fire based on wind and distance from the target.

There is a video on youtube of one in action. Reconstructed for a tv show to see if they would work.

Bako Ikaporamee, thanks for the reply! Somehow that's just the answer I was hoping for. I love to see these strange weapons, so it makes me happy if they actually work :D
Svennn, I'm looking forward to seeing the bright red versions!
Elprez, I'll take a look at the YouTube video later today :D
