Title: the Greyhawk Project
Post by: BaronVonJ on 16 April 2009, 01:58:38 PM
Anybody who played D & D in the 80s has to remember one of the first complete worlds to game in, the World of Greyhawk. I lost more than a few characters to the lands of Oerth. I dug it up the books a few months back and found some inspiration to paint up all the extra fantasy/medieval figs I had lying about that were left over from larger units. The first unit had to be from the Free City of Greyhawk itself. Some Hundred Years War French pavasiers would fit nicely as Greyhawk guardsmen called to battle.
My ultimate is to do a few of these one offs a year till all the lands of Flanaess are represented.

Yes, I realize this is completely impossible. Pray for me....

They look great. Impossible is so much more interesting than attainable.

Nice work! Great idea too. Where did the figs come from?

Figs are Old Glory. Yes I said OG. They don't have the best rep, but some of their lines are quite nice.

Nice. When I sold off my D&D stuff, I kept only my AD&D hardcovers and my World of Greyhawk books. There were just too many great memories associated with spending summer days planning campaigns through much of that world.

Very nice. My AD&D campaign, when we played it, was set in Greyhawk. Been trying too write army lists for DBF for all the countries for years, lol.

Greyhawk! Boy does that put me in the way-back machine...

Like many of us I divested myself of most of my D&D material a while back, although I did keep the original set of pamphlets from the mid-late '70s for sentimental reasons... ::)

Of course now that I have the Broadsword Adventures PBEM game, I'm never going back... :-*

Am I really the only gamer who never ever parted with one tiny bit of roleplaying material? Actually I'm even now hunting for the old trasures of the D&D and AD&D times...

Cool idea to paint up Greyhawk models. Why have I never thought of that?
