I am hoping that the members here can help me locate a place to purchase some terrain suitable for games based in Egypt or desert terrain. I have suitable places to locate jungle and city terrain, but I have not been successful in finding terrain similar to what Dave uses in his Pulp Alley videos. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not opposed to buying from overseas, but I would prefer U.S. sources if possible. Thanks in advance for any replies.

If you're not averse to exercising your construction muscles (or allergic to PVA) I'd wholeheartedly recommend Hirst Arts molds, they've got a good Egyptian range & once you've got them it's cheap to build.

Scotia Grendel has a large range of ancient egyptian ruins

David also uses quite a lot of Sally 4th Exotic Location terrain.

A visit to the aquatic section of a pet store should provide a basis of some terrain.
On this forum I have seen some very good use of Play-mobile toys, suitably tarted up.

Yup, I use lots of terrain from Sally 4th. It's easy to put together, durable, and works for lots of different settings. Great stuff! :D

I personally use home made stuff, Sally 4th, Hirst, and little odds and ends from Crocodile games.

What are the other buildings that I have seen in your videos? The ones that look like stucco or adobe? I haven't seen ones like that before. I have only seen the Sarissa Precision, 4Grounds, and Plastcraft buildings in that style. I have looked at some of the Sally 4th items in the past. But it always comes back to my experience with modular stuff like Dwarven Forge that kills it for me. I also am not a fan of the cost of overseas shipping for stuff like this. It always seems that the expense in shipping nearly costs as much as I am planning to spend.
I checked out the Hirst Arts page. While interesting, I am not inclined to spend a lot of time on molding/crafting. My hobby time is limited to say the least and I prefer to spend it playing rather than building items to play.
Most of my current terrain consists of Plastcraft Saga Coloured Desert buildings, a set of resin temple walls, toy cars, Walking Dead plastic scenery kit, Plastcraft Coloured Malifaux items, Dust Tactics Tenement Buildings/Quonset Huts and Dwarven Forge Dungeon/Cavern Tiles (which almost never see use). I did purchase one TT Combat barn and I was impressed with it. I plan to purchase some more of their brownstones and such. They just don't fit in with the north Africa vibe I am looking for right now.
Some of the Scotia Grendel items looked to be of use for excavation sites in the future. Right now I want to try and focus on some buildings. I figure they will be harder to locate than scatter terrain down the line. As mentioned, I can try the local Petsmart to obtain some appropriate scatter terrain.
I do appreciate all the suggestions though. Please keep them coming.

Lunesdargent (https://lunesdargentworkshop.com/product-category/egyptian-theme/)- I have never bought any of their stuff so I cannot vouch for the quality but it does look like something you may be interested in.

I did stumble upon them while searching. It looked promising except they have the same issue as Dwarven Forge. The walls have floors attached meaning I would have to make use of floor pieces as well. This gets expensive quick. I learned this when I spent over $500 on Dwarven Forge only to discover that I still couldn't fill a 3'x3' table with what I had bought. LOL

Is what I currently have. I love the look of it and it allows to set up rooms of all sizes without having to worry about floors. Plus it is also pretty cheap for what you get.

What kind of terrain is it your looking for ? is it building market place stuff ?
this is for a building, http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/epages/950003459.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950003459/Products/MUDBH
Market stalls, http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/epages/950003459.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950003459/Products/SFEX5
There are sites that do these type of thing on your side of the pond as well :) if you narrow down the things you need I'm sure the lads on here will help you out with them.

Paper (cardstock) stuff works as well - especially for a game that involves players 'in the moment' so that they look beyond the physical and see the representation.
I don't have any links at hand, but they're out there.
-
I'd also suggest checking out Crescent Root -- http://crescent-root.com/pages/Product/28mm/28mm_series1/28mm_series1.html
Note -- Although I have wanted to get some of their stuff, I don't actually own any of it yet.
Anyhoo, it looks good and I believe they are US based. It is worth a look......

These are examples of the type of items I am looking for. I would definitely consider getting that building, but it appears that is the only style they make. The stalls are interesting.

I had forgotten about Crescent Root. They are a definite possibility. I just wish that there was a cheaper entry point for them to try out their stuff. I may bite the bullet though and get either the $60 or $70 series 1 sets.
Who makes the buildings that are in the Pulp Alley Scenario 2 videos?
-
Pretty sure all of those were hand made by Dave and Mila. There used to be photos in this thread:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=15132.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=15132.0)
...but they all got eaten by Photobucket. Maybe some attention might encourage a re-upload?

I also use these Middle Eastern / North African style buildings a lot for Pulp Gaming.

Some of the buildings are from the Old Glory Chicago range, they're reasonably priced especially if you splash out on the Army Membership and get 40% off your purchases for a year:

Yup, those are all handmade by my daughter and me.

Nice! I thought they were some purchased resin pieces. Might I ask what you made them from.

Just FYI: separate from shipping and handling charges, I got a customs bill as a result of Sally 4th using, directly or indirectly, DHL. This was a particularly nasty shock as I had never before and have never since been charged for import duty when ordering from any other miniatures gaming related UK business (which is in all senses the norm).

I've heard of this happening both ways across the pond, it just seems to be down to luck one way or the other.
-
No, I wouldn't say it's luck. It was the specific courier.

Beware the Couriers!!! I always try to use the national carriers such as USPS, Royal Mail, Canada Post. If you use DHL, FedEx or UPS, and the package has to cross a border, prepare to the charged big time over and above the shipping you paid to the sender.
-
Thanks for the heads up on the extra customs fees! Yet another reason to find a U.S. based terrain seller. Small sets of miniatures do not worry me when ordering overseas as they can easily be handled by the country's postal service. But I think a huge order of terrain with the weight could result in the use of a special courier and I do not want any unexpected charges.
For now, I think I am going to make an order with Crescent Root. The reviews on them I have seen were all positive. They are U.S. based. The buildings in series 1 are perfect for what I am after. They easily disassemble for storage. They are pre-painted. What else can I say? I will probably start off with one of the three building sets.
Now I just need to decide on what I am going to order from the Pulp Alley store. Decisions, decisions.

Sorry for I've not replying sooner (Christmas and the like).
I'd recommend Crescent root if in the US. Not so much for the Uk. Not just for the shipping issues and costs already mentioned. More for the lack of care in packing.
I have the station set(in the Uk) .Mine arrived with no internal packaging only a couple of snap fast bags for the market stall items.everything else was left to knock and rub its merry way across the pond( judging by the amount of texture/sand at the bottom of the box. Quite successfully).
That said still a great set looks good (and I'm picky ) do wonder what it looked like when it went into the box though😄.I will eventually brave it and order the large building with dome once I'm flush(or barter on the next Us commission 😉).
The station set gets used for just about anything,It's been an air field ,a trading post, and today a island waterfront.(oddly enough I don't think its been used as a railway station yet.)
Mark.

I must say those do look really good. I am still considering an order with them. I currently have several of the Plastcraft Saga Coloured Desert buildings. They look descent and are cheap. The size is pretty good for Pulp Alley sized miniatures, but they seem a little small for my Dust Tactics figures. I am leery of having building of different scales within the same theme. I just can't decide whether to buy the Crescent Root buildings or use that money on another aspect of the hobby. LOL

As for Crescent Root, I have some of their other lines, and they are very nice. Don't have any of their Middle East stuff (Series 1), but it sure looks great:

Alas, Crescent Root seems not to have the "potted" palms and the fountain available anymore.

Yes, beautiful stuff. I don't own any of it either but here is a blog (http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.ca/2017/12/modern-bolt-action-outskirts-of-baghdad.html) with an AAR on a table filled with their series 1 product.

That table was fantastic. Thanks for the link to it.

Lulzzz... Mods should probably just delete my post as I didn't see oabee's and mine is essentially a duplicate. :` ::) :?

I highly recommend Kobblestone Miniatures Middle Eastern buildings. I used them in my 28mm Pulp Egyptian collection. You can see that collection (it's the 16th gallery... identified by a picture and a name; about 110 pictures) at www.warin15mm.net

Those look pretty good. They seem a bit pricey though for not being painted. I think if I am going to spend that much per building then I would be better of with the Crescent Root buildings.
