Hi all. I have had this game for some time but not managed to wrap my head around the hero creation. Well, I have given it a good go today (as it is my birthday and fancied a change). So I created 2 heroes. Trouble is, it is that complicated, I am unsure if they are correct. If anyone can offer some advice and take a minute to look at the explanation below it would be very much appreciated.
Fingers crossed, I am on the right track... Thanks all.
Hero 1 = Paragon = 75 points
AP = 8
Vitality = 8
Strike - 5
Strength - 5
Dodge - 5
Toughness - 5
Mind - 3
Resolve - 3
Sense - 3
------------
Points so far = 44 points
------------
POWERS:
1 - Extra attacks (2 points)
2 - Flight (10 points) + Carry Object (2 points) to allow carrying objects up to 10 tonnes or 2 standard models
3 - Eye lasers (+4D, put in ranged attack) with AOE spray (12 points +25% = 15 points), Scope also added (1 point). This is bolt and cone effect. Single attack results in rolling damage on 4D (ranged attack dice) + 1D for every 2 successes. Multi attack is same but halved for each target
4 - Boon = Implacable charge (1 point)
-------------
Points for powers, etc = 31
-------------
Total points = 75
Hero 2 = Portal user = 75 points
AP = 7
Vitality = 8
Strike - 4
Strength - 4
Dodge - 5
Toughness - 4
Mind - 3
Resolve - 4
Sense - 3
---------
Points so far = 40 points
---------
POWERS:
1 - Teleport (15 points) + warp x1 (5 points) + carry object 2 points to pick up and drop 225lbS (such as a standard model) = 22 points
2 - Teleport punch/hyper attack (6 points) - I assume this is a power that can be used for a separate 3AP after teleporting for 3AP
3 - Reach X 6 (6 points) so teleport punch can happen when not in base contact
4 - Boon Pushing (1 point)
------------
Points for powers, etc = 35 points
------------
Total = 75 points

These look fine to me!
If you're struggling you can always use the archetypes to get you started. They really do make SS4 chargen more manageable. They start on page 101, and you can use them as a jumping off point for building all sorts of characters.
