Okay, so I'm guilty of being something of butterfly when it comes to being fully committed to a project. Buuuut you never know, maybe I'll be able to get my teeth into this one! I decided that I'd have a serious look at my collection and realised that whilst I love 28mm miniatures, I really don't relish painting them so I made the decided to clear the decks retaining enough to scratch the itch when it returns.
As a result it seems I've plenty of 15mm, 10mm and 6mm miniatures to be getting on with (probably enough to keep me going for the next 20 years ath the rate I paint at). The intention for this thread is to be, unsurprisingly, 6mm Fantasy primarily for Dragon Rampant but based on the forces found in the lovely End Times books.
We'll be starting with Chaos, in the form of those beefcake barbarian types - Marauders:

Those are the chaps I've just finished, here they are with some pals painted in July (who I think I may have posted in another thread):

The miniatures are from Microworld Games' Dark Alliance range, which is pretty splendid although I'm looking for some evil knight alternatives since the cavalry in the range are just a bit too huge.
I'm finishing off another warband of marauders, pledged to Nurgle this time, some Blade Demons which make good Bloodletter proxies and some heavily armoured crossbowmen (I know they aren't really found in Chaos armies, but I've got some and I damn well using them!)
Thanks for looking.

Nice! You're braver than me, I just use granny-grating.
Which game system are you using?

Great looking units!! Will follow this with great interest. :)

Thanks for the comments folks. I’m planning to use the Dragon Rampant rules since they seem pretty streamlined and fun, but they’re based so they can be used for Warmaster too. Maybe even a micro AoS massed battles since most of the rules and stats seem to be online and once again pretty easy.

Very nice. What size of base are these on?
-
Cheers Samsonov, the exterior movement tray size is 10cm x 5cm. It comes in two layers, the Top layer has been laser cut to fit three 4cm x 2cm bases in a triangle formation. I base the figures on 4cm x 1cm mdf since it makes painting so much easier, not to mention getting texture onto the base neatly!
I got the bases from Pendraken, they’re made for their Warband 12mm (I think) fantasy range. They do other arrangements:

How are you modifying the DR rules for predominantly square formations?

No so much modifying as ignoring I suppose ;)
There’s a mini dice holder on the tray to track damage and I might make some pavise strips or gabions to put on units that are doing the wall of spears thing.
That said, I need to get a couple more Chaos units finished and some Empire ones done before I have a test scrap and find out what works!

Another band of marauders, although this pasty lot have pledged their rusty blades to the jolly rotter himself - Nurgle.

That brings the order of battle up to a mighty three units! More complete units than I think I've ever managed to paint for the same army...... even at this tiny scale!
Just need to get some varnish onto the Blade Demons next.
Thanks for looking.

Three units of the same army completed, now you have gained enough momentum to carry on to the end. Keep that pace.

How did I miss this !?!
Very nice!
looking forward to those blade demons.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Stroezie.

Thanks for the comments, the Blade Demons are now unleashed:

An ever useful scrap of Epic 40k ruin has filled a gap in the battle line rather helpfully!
Still working on the crossbowmen but hoping to get them finished in the next few days.
Thanks for looking.

Another addition to the forces of ruin:

A bunch of armoured crossbowmen with a Nurgly theme. Not the most exciting unit to paint but hopefully the addition of some rust and oxidised armour make them a bit more thematic.
Thanks for looking.

These are a great idea. Massed battles just look better at smaller scales, I think.

Completely agree! I had thought about doing warhammer in 6mm before, instead I think ill do Lord of the Rings.
