Title: Some desert scenery
Post by: YPU on 21 January 2018, 05:03:30 PM
Some of my new-ish desert terrain. All of this has been built with the intent of creating a lot of terrain fast, since I spend so much of my years before focusing on single cool but small pieces of scenery, I decided a year or 2 ago to try and do projects that would results in table filling quantities, even if that looked a bit less. Also tried to keep it as scale neutral as possible, shown here with 28mm pulp, 20mm post-apocalypse, 12mm heavy gear and 6mm scifi.

Treebark rocks, nice difficult terrain, line blockers and cover.

Some good old fake cacti as... well.. caci

Rocky mesa and hills (separate of course)

How did you make the Rocky mesa?

Excellent results. I presume the cracked top rocks are made using crackle paste? Yet another use of this stuff that I have to keep in mind :)

Thanks guys

No the mesa are a trick I picked up on the old terra genesis forums, you take pink insulation foam and hit it from the top with a round hammer. Sounds like a stupid idea but as you can see the result works quite well  :D

Looks the part, and supremely flexible. Useful set of scenery, well done.

I see. Now that you mention it, I remember either said tut or someone else using it to great effect.

Really good - I love dessert boards.

Really good - I love dessert boards.

They are multi-functional right?! and if I put a pool or river in there somewhere I can mix in some jungle terrain for variety.

Clever.

Not my idea, but it works wonders, honestly my rather heavy-handed paint job on these obscures the effect a bit.

You know it!  :D And make sure to keep hitting it, the more the better I found, with a bit of paint, many of the impacts will disappear.

I've been thinking that recently looking at my terrain-  keep the desert board, add stands of jungle trees and temple ruins - you've got s jungle board!
