New blog post showcasing a bunch of fire-themed figs from the Reaper Bones range. Elementals, giants, pyromancers and more. See them all here: http://brokenstarsburningships.blogspot.com/2018/02/you-may-experience-burning-sensation.html

Wow; really nice. You certainly are on fire!
(Yes, I just said that. Face it; it had to be done lol )
I especially like the fire mage and his goblins, plus the first couple of elementals; you really captured the essence of the fire on them. Might be the picture/light, but the sencond huge elemental seems a bit too light though.
But awesome work on a great looking and coherent group! 8)

Really like the elementals they are nicely done. It took me a while to get the hang of painting fire. I'm so conditioned to start with a dark colour a highlight up with lighter colours that I couldn't get my head around starting with a pale yellow and getting darker highlights(?) but it looks like you nailed it.

It does feel counterintuitive, no two ways about it - but as you said, it does work. I've been experimenting with doing the same "reverse highlight" thing on other colors for a "spectral flame" look in blues, greens, or purples, but I'm not happy enough with them yet to try a showcase.
Might be the picture/light, but the sencond huge elemental seems a bit too light though.
Bit of both, probably. The image was under too much light against a light background, and I'd gone a bit too pale in the base yellow in an attempt to get a superheated look. Sold it off ages ago so no chance of a better take on it, but maybe I'll take another stab at it in the future sometime.

The skin tone on those fire giants is perfect!
