Someone?s fast! Those Crusader ACW figures just came out! lol

Wow, cool stuff! Both have great colors and were painted very well. In the end I voted for the second entry because the colors are so natural and great, there are seven miniatures and two painted banners and the background looks so fantastic. And although I like the colors on entry number one, I totally dislike the Dallimore style of painting. It's just not my thing at all and for me detracts from a model. But that's just me.

Well, that's a well hidden miniature for sure. Especially because everything is painted with such natural (and good looking!) colors. Good job! The flags are very nice. The whole scene is really great. The first entry is nicely painted, but with no background or setting, just can't beat the second entry imo.

I found him by counting the number of arms per miniature. "Nromal" humans normally don't have three arms... lol

Or perhaps the Steve Dean style?

Deano...and then the penny dropped. I was surprised how someone could copy Steve Dean's painting style so well lol I guess it helps when you actually are Steve Dean.

@Svenn: That's same thing IIRC, right? Basically, I don't like the way hands and faces look that way and they spoil shades for me. I just don't like the harsh way of painting. I think they must look ace on the gaming table due to the high contrast but purely for photographs I personally think it's not as good as "regular" shades and highlights
**edit**
Oh, AHA! :D Never even saw it was Steve Dean himself. D'oh...slaps forehead lol

I'm with you on that Malebolgia
As for the rest, I love Crusader's figures, I love ACW and I love the Confederate army because of all the shades of greys and browns you can use to paint them (making them less boring to paint than Union troops). I vote for entry number 2. There's a little thing that bugging me and that's the size of the flags? I think that they are too big for ACW especially for Confederate troops. But still the painting on the figures and flags is excellent.

I voted for the second entry as well, everything looks just a bit better than in the first entry in my humble opinion. THe flags and setting are very nice too!
-
Both great entries...too close to call!!

Both great entries...
Yep, more skills and great pop-up colors in the first, but the background in the second makes the difference to me : maybe it's not fair but that's how I learn to love minis here, in context ! ;)
