Nice looking model Lou 20 or 28mm?
Who is this John Hart?
-
John Hart made the masters for some Perry minis vehicles and guns :
Dodge Tanake - Conus Gun - Marmon Herrington - Matador - Dorchester - Rolls Royce - Indian Carrier - AS37 - TL 37 -Pavesi Tractor - Streyer 1500 variants- SdKfz 254- Cannona da 75/27 - Breda 20mm- BL 5.5 inch Medium Gun -
and the French and British motorbikes for Crusader ...
-
Ahh right thanks Lou found it
He does some nice work
-
Lovely model, thanks Lou for sharing.
-
basically, it was the need of "the Kufra gun" ... the single 75mm mountain gun used in the siege of El Tag fort in Kufra oasis by Leclerc Free French in 1941
(https://i62.servimg.com/u/f62/11/63/95/43/4_cano11.jpg)
and may be the transport vehicle :

Lovely work from John. Lou, is the mountain gun up for general sale at some point?
Cheers,
Helen

will be a Perry release, with a senegalese crew ;)

Great to hear French are still getting some attention.

Do you know if is there any german artillery guns in John's or Perry's pipelines?
-
don't think so, there are a lot of german guns on the market ... ( even if there is no howitzer in the Perry range ) ;)
-
That’s a beautiful model, and really pleased to hear that there will be more releases for this range.
-
To Cromojaro - what German artillery are you thinking of in particular? I assume it's not something already in production, if you have something in mind let me know.

The 10,5 cm Leichte Feldhaubitze without muzzle brake (the early war one)
-
hmmm...not sure that's a good candidate - isn't that just the 105 but without the muzzle brake? FYI the Pak 38(R) should be coming out some time from Perry's...
Any other suggestions? North Africa/not done before/unusual are good criteria.
-
Gidday John. The 7.5 cm Gebirgsgeschütz 36 was used in North Africa etc.
Lovely work on the French mountain guns.
All the best,
Helen
-
Nice work John!
How about the Canon d'Infanterie de 37 modèle 1916 TRP (37mm 'Puteaux' SA 18)? It was wheeled but they could be detached to lower its profile.
Used by French units who had not received the 25mm AT Gun, so many of the overseas 'colonial' units had it. It was also used by the Polish Army in 1939 (wz.18), the U.S. Army pre-war (M1916), in the Spanish Civil War and the Germans took it into service as the 3.7 cm IG 152(f) in 1940.

There are two candidates: the 15cm schwere feldhaubitze 18 and the 15 cm shweres infanteriegeschütz 33.
-
i second Arlequin , the 37mm TR SA 18 ... such a lovely little gun , still in use in Chad, AOF, North Africa and Syria ...
manned by Nomad Group Meharists ?

Yep, the 37mm TR SA 18 would be a nice addition.

Just for your info, Trenchworx does a lovely 15cm. I have one an its lovely.
https://trenchworx.com/product/15cm-sfh18-howitzer/
JTFM and other companies have the 15 cm shweres infanteriegeschütz 33 of which JTFM is the better model IMHO.
Hope this helps you.
All the best,
Helen

Thanks Helen. but 50 USD for the gun without the crew is expensive.

Fair enough!

i dream of some Nomad Group minis from Michael Perry ;) suitable for Leclerc Forces in Chad, but also Saharian southern front Vichy French ... and interwar ... and i love camels :-*

Old Glory make one. The gun isn’t bad, the crew are their usual dross but there are plenty of useful crew figures elsewhere.
IIRC I’ve seen another one somewhere.
As for the leFH 18, there are a couple of available models both in 1/56 (Warlord) and 1/48 (Gasoline). You just need to cut the muzzle brake off yourself.
-
Lou, I think there is an esoteric band of us who would love Micheal to do some more French, Italian and British colonial troops for North and East African side show campaigns. Italian askari are at the top of my list
-
By the by if we can request guns, I’d quite like a KPÚV vz. 37 AKA, the 3,7cm Pak 156 (t). Quite a few saw service with the Germans and it’s a rather cute looking little gun. It’s predecessor, the KPÚV vz. 34 would be equally nice but I’m not sure the Germans used it. Funnily enough I’ve seen them in museums in both Colombia and Peru.
Genialjim, on the off chance you didn’t know, Empress produce some lovely Italian Askari, sculpted by Paul Hicks.

Lybian askaris , meharists ... yes ...

the other one is from Scarab miniatures

Carlos,
I am afraid I’m one of those dreadful wargamers who is a little OCD about figure size. I have a sizeable collection of Paul great SCW and VBCW minitures but feel the proportions don’t quite work with the Perry’s WW2 figures but admit I’m probably being overly prescriptive about size ;)
-
Just think of them as big, strapping lads from Eritrea, next to titchy little buggers from Barnsley and Bologna.
-
lol

Lou, anything is possible with Michael Perry. I would like to see some Libyans etc for the Italians.
All the best.

So pretty much a complete waste of cash, time and paint if I could buy one with a Perry crew at some future point.
:)

Depends on your needs and the pressing nature of them. The gun is quite decent and you get some bonus, vaguely anthropomorphic, fishing weights that come with it. :)
-
Older and wiser, I've managed to curb the impulse-buying of shiny objects. Although 'buy it' has never been my Pavlovian response when it comes to Old Glory.
I'm quite content now to sit and watch quality ranges flourish or fail and then buy-in if one of the odd niche conflicts that interest me becomes a viable project. It saves on possessing a lead/plastic ziggurat devoted to the god of incomplete and half-assed ranges.
It hasn't worked out any cheaper for all that, but what is bought gets used. :)
Interwar-WWII Mid-East/East Africa via the Perrys is next on the cards for me and like Lou and others, I'm hoping that the currently-missing Libyans, French Méharistes and maybe even some Senussi, will make their appearance in due course.
-

I kown it. Alan Perry wrote me long time ago (december 2017).

Probably nobody done this: the SFH 18 150mm limbered

Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually field whacking great howitzers on a table in this scale? Tinky-plinky AT guns and infantry guns I get. A really big gun like a siege gun/ Morser Karl type affair might possibly make an objective, and almost certainly makes a terrain feature but I’m not sure of the virtues of medium guns as gaming pieces. Few enough games in 28mm seem to be much beyond platoon (+) sized affairs and most commecial rules seem to cater to that level. I can’t imagine there are too many people assembling whole batteries of field guns and fielding them unless they are playing a 28mm version of FoW.
For collectors of guns I would have thought that either 1/72 or 1/35 offers far more scope and much more detailed models.
Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing well executed models in this scale but I am curious as to what people use them for, if anything beyond display pieces.

For playing Bolt Action.

there's a challenge...after all, I did do the 5.5" for the British. The 37mm is going on the list (cuteness is a factor as well, I must admit - or hugeness!).

Hi John,
Both guns would be lovely to see. The 37mm is cute! The 15cm would make a lovely vignette with its tractor and crew.
All the best,
Helen

For playing Bolt Action.
Heer 46 is about to release the Italien Cannone da 149/40 in 1:56. This will make a fine addition to my Regio Esercito collection.
I can see the potential for a SFH 18 15cm limbered. I for one would love for this to occur to make a lovely vignette as a towed artillery piece.
Cheers!

Hi Jim, There was a response by the Perries on Facebook back in December 2016 to a question on North and East African troops. The reply was "I need to make some."
I know Michael loves the early period of WW2. Besides Tunisia/Sicily 43, the early North and East African campaigns are a favourite of mind too.
All the best,
Helen

molecatcherjohn, you can found usefull informations on the 37mm TR mle 1916 here : Provisional Instruction for the 37mm gun model 1916 (http://cgsc.cdmhost.com/cdm/ref/collection/p15040coll1/id/30) ... and i have some blueprints of the tripod who are not in the document ...
BTW, i suggested Michael Perry something about the ER26 bis meharist radio set ... this kind of stuff :
with 2 senegaleses manning the generator ...

If it wasn't for those 45mm Johnny-come-latelys the 37mm would be the '88' of my battlefields. ;)

Hi Helen.
Who knows then, maybe we'll see some Gideon Force Sudanese, Ethiopian Arbechgnog, Somalis, Royal African Rifles and other assorted exotics added to the range someday?
Operation Torch is pretty much where my interest wanes however and I've no interest in the Afrika Korps; just Commonwealth, French and Italians for fickle old me.
:)

Hi Jim,
I understand completely. The Germans to me are not as important as the Regio Esercito in investing my time in painting and collecting.
Cheers!

This suggestion meets all your conditions: Sd.Kfz. 6/3 Diana. It was used only in North Africa, no one makes it and its very unusual.

I’ll be getting one of these to add to my Senegalese forces

then modelling of the Laffly truck who was intended to carry the gun in Tchad , and "died" on the road to Kufra ...

received today ...
the gun can be modelled high profile , as shown on Perry's picture or low profile

nice little model ...

Hopefully they’ll do some standard crew for the gun as well. They popped up in Madagascar and IIRC Lebanon as well.
