Yeah! Conan! Yeah! :-*
-
Agreed :D .
Also, anyone know who makes those dudes in the Night Patrol submission, and are they 28mm? Been looking for something of the sort.
-
The soldiers are from Liberation, Little Green Men. They are 20mm, an uncharted scale until now. I thought that this comp would be a good opportunity to try something different. :)
-
The night patrol did look like 20mm (mostly because of the huge bases ;)), the very nice painting and crisp photography on that entry won my vote. I do like the first entry but the pictures turned out rather yellow.
-
Voted for the nightpatrol. The first entry is nicely painted. But the crisp look of the 20mm models decided the vote.

Hmmmm... I think the colors in the photograph reproduced pretty accurately. I was kinda trying for a sun-bronzed barbarian look to the skin...(although now that I think of it, isn't Cimmeria supposed to be cloudy all the time...?) ;)
-
Although the cimmerians look nice, I don't like the comic like picture and the colours look strange to me. Athough 20mm is not my scale and the "Night Patrol" has the very disticnt style from Chambersofminiatures that I normally like less due to feeling a bit
dull cold* (no offense intended, just a feeling) they still get my vote this round.
*edited to get the right wording

First time voting in the Lead Painters' League - and I'm going to have to go with the Barbarians. Our gaming group used to have those minis, back in the eighties, and I've always loved them, and the painting really brings out their character. The face on the girl with the winged helmet in particular is excellently done, and the flesh tones are great!

Thanks for the great comments. I was unsure of the base size for 20mm, so I went with washers that I would normally use for 28mm. Live and learn. lol
The Citadel bring up fond memories for me too.
-
I'm glad that people are enjoying the "blast from the past" ;D
From left to right the Barbarians' proper names are:
1. Arslan
2. "Big Momma"
3. Blood
4. Fatima Shield Maiden
5. Ulwen, Sword-mistress of Wonger (AKA Helena the Swift).
I thought the (nameless) Big Momma had a Red Sonja vibe so I tried to paint her that way (although of course to really be Red Sonja she would need the iconic chain mail bikini...!).

Those barbarians are GREAT - they're old Citadel figures? Can someone familiar with them post a link to a solegends catalog page?
I like the Night Partrol, too - the detail is very nice for 20mm figures (for 28mm figures, even!), but I've got to vote for Conan and friends.

References to the various figures in my entry are scattered throughout the Citadel section of SOL (as is usual with SOL, you have to already know where to look to find anything... ::)). Here are some links:

Note that "Ulwen, Sword-mistress of Wonger" was later re-purposed as part of the Heroes for Dungeonquest set and re-named "Helena the Swift":

Other cool Citadel Barbarian figures may also be found in the F6 Barbarian Raiders line:

Thanks for posting those links!

Pennies or 2 eurocent pieces are excellent bases for 20mm miniatures.

CONAN! Easiest vote for this round :D. I just love Conan and a whole posse of angry, strong barbarians easily win my vote. Great presentation too and I love the look of them together.
The second one has nice colors but they kind of dissapear into their bases as the bases are so huge and are of similar colors.

Now that the leader board has updated, here are some individual shots:
