I really,. really love the first entry. The models are very nice, the setting is great as well and the whole puicture looks so colourful and warm. I really like the paintjobs and the whole composition. I'm not too fond of the tin soldiers either.

It really is a shame that GW let Man-O-War go out of print... There were some truly excellent models in the range (and Uncle Mike has most of them in his entry!).

Originality vs formation ....

I voted for the second entry. The figures in the first one are all really well painted but I do like the “classic toy soldiers look” on the Austrian Fusiliers. Nice!  8)

The Water Boys win it for me - nice rich colours with good shading and highlighting, and a good backdrop.

Indeed, the water looks great!  8)

Erm...the water was a sheet of textured plastic...can't take any credit there. And the figs are so small and fun they painted themselves. (Not literally of course...I still want the points!)  ::)

I don't know of any nice way to say what I am thinking about the fusiliers.

So I won't. Say it, that is.

But I voted for the sea critters.

Actually I rather like the Fusiliers’.  It’s that “Traditional Toy Soldier” look that appeals.  Nice simple block-type painting.  Well grouped.  A kind of “Less is more” feel about them.

Maybe a bigger photo would have helped.  And perhaps the “Traditional Toy Soldier” look is actually enhanced by a gloss varnish finish?

Good effort.  But then, as someone else said recently, everyone who actually takes part in the LPL is a winner.   :)

Indeed, there is definately a toy soldier thing going on, and judging by the pictures the models aren't very detailed so kudos to Moriarty for still painting all the right bits ok 8)

Yes, there definitely is something to this unit. Nicely painted with a leader and a banner. I quite like these little fellows and their look! Good job Moriarty :)

Easy one for me. I'm just not a fan of toy soldiers...I really, really don't like the sculpts and the lack of any detail on them detracts from the look to me. In addition, the Man o War presentation is fan-tas-tic! Love the monsters, the backdrop, the colors...EVERYTHING!! One of the best entries of the LPL so far!
