Would the equites Mauri actually have been Moorish cavalry at that point or would the ‘Mauri’ have designated battlefield role (light cavalry, presumably) and/or been a unit name, rather than a reflection of the soldiers’ place of origin? If you take that interpretation, any Late Roman or early Byzantine light cavalry should do the trick, I’d imagine.
