Kryomek figures from Scotia grendel acting the part as aliens from the films. Queen, eggs and hive to come.

Those Kryomek figures look like fun to paint, I might pick some up too.
I have been getting together some chest burster type things recently for my take on "Aliens" here (http://sho3box.wordpress.com/2009/05/10/face-huggers-and-chest-bursters/). I made some face-huggers from skaven tails and zombie hands, others old GW Necromunda Ripperjacks and some chest bursters from GW Tyranid Rippers.
Your take on a hive sounds like fun. With your pedigree in that department I cant wait to see it... so that I can copy rip it off for myself ;)
Thanks for sharing and all that :D

Can't wait to see some unfortunates sparring with that lot :) .

Have you seen the Colonial Marines from Gripping Beast?

They are rather nice. I was thinking of using these for the USCMC, Pig Iron Heavy Infantry for Euro marines, Corporate troopers or UPP (Union of Progressive Peoples - space commies) and the Kryomek beasties for the ubiquitous bugs. Wasn't sure it would work proxying the Helions for the movie xenomorphs, but you're excellent project suggest otherwise!
Love the hoard effect!! :D 8)
I'll be keeping my eye on this one!
-
Don't forget the Copplestone not-Predators too… ;)
-
I've seen the GB Marines but my game is set now so I'm using modern US troops, it's more of a Stargate setting than an Aliens one.
Just based the colonists:

Here's the colony in case anyone's forgotten it:

It looks really great, awesome terrain for the colony and the models look great too.
-
Don't forget the Copplestone not-Predators too… ;)
The old Grenadier (E4M miniatures) military troopers make great colonial marines, as do Copplestone's resculpting on the range, jungle troopers especially.

Yet another range of near-future figures I'd love to get hold of.
The civilians are particularly useful.
-
where are your colonists from Matakishi? They look pretty decent and it's not often I seem to see sci-fi civs.
-
They are the Press Gang from the Superfigs line.
-
Alien Queen and egg chamber, Games Workshop Red Terror from eBay and some resin eggs (also from eBay)

yuck! :-*

Still going with Crossfire for many of your games?
I really like the look of the multifigure bases, but I can't make myself do it, as I think it ties them to a specific game. Haven't just recently tried out Crossfire ... I'm even more tempted though!
-
Crossfire for these, just about to post the special rules for them.
-
The eggs, are they an actual produced miniatures, or just someone's home-creation?

Nice! Thanks for the link!
-
Thanks for the link. An order has been placed and the eggs will hatch soon lol
-
More great stuff, Matakishi. Those eggs look really gribbly (TM).
-
Finally, for the aliens, a hive entrance from which they can pour fourth with unsettling hissing noises...

Oh my gasp!
These aliens must have been labouring a long time.
Can't wait to see some action shots! :D
-
Game tomorrow :D
Expect pictures...
-
OH the fun you have! :-*
-
Ah, the old melty-bottle trick. I really love the contrast to the terrain it has.
-
Those pants won't be red for long. Pretty soon they're gonna be brown.
At least on the inside.
-
Mmmmm, gribbly... :D
Looking forward to the AAR!

A few pics, words will be added tomorrow.

The Pyramid of the Eye broadcasts this clash of the species. Get those two-bit fools with their guns and helmets!

Hi Matakishi, it doesn't take too long at looking at your site to work out that you're a huge fan of crossfire. What makes the system so appealing to you; I've never tried it or seen a decent review of it, so know very little about. I understood it was a WW2 game, how do you modify it for sci-fi and all the other games you do?

East Riding also has some suitable minis:

Not sure about the armed face-huggers, though lol

Crossfire is a results based system not a process based one so modifying it is very simple. Looking at your post on sci-fi skirmish rules you seem more interested in process based rules so, whilst I'd recommend Crossfire to anyone, I don't think it will give you the type of game you're looking for.
That said, there is a very good review here that may give you a better idea about the game.

Many thanks for that, I'll go and read away. I'd never considered dividing ruleset into results based and process based; that certainly gives some food for thought and actually makes a deal of sense now I think about it.

Okay, this completes the Xenomorphs as a sub project :)
Game reports are here:
Game one, a human victory:
http://www.matakishi.com/xenomorphgame1.htm
Game two, not a human victory:
http://www.matakishi.com/xenomorphgame2.htm
And, the changes to Crossfire I made in order to use the aliens:

All articles are copiously illustrated with fine photographs of course :)

I'm in awe!
What a lovely looking game!
I'm curious:
When you say "completes" does that mean the odds that you'll take this game out for a spin again any time soon are slim!?
-
No, just means that all the troops are painted and the rules are done. Now I'm moving on to the robots faction and completing the scenery and rules for the Greys.
This is going to be my game for BLAM! 09 so it will certainly be played many more times :)

Nice! I hope to come to this years BLAM.
Whenever I figure out where, when and how!

I've added rules for Predators but no pics yet.
