Hi evrybody,
I'd like to show you some images of my work on fantasy miniatures. I often jump from a project to another, so probably lot of variety will be :)
So, let's start with wat's actually on the cork: some old citadel chaos warriors (from Heroquest), some chaos thugs, an ultra-modern flesh hound and a Chaos champion still in progress. The beginning of a warband to be used for Shadespire, Dragon Rampant or whatever.
Thank you all for reading!
-
Good looking stuff!! I play all the games you have listed!... i've painted the Hero's for Heroquest, but nobody else... I'll get on that some day... I painted all the monsters and heroes for DragonStrike... another favorite (way less monsters then Heroquest).... one day! Keep on going, looking good!
-
Thank you very much Gibby: painting of these guys is making progresses, I hope to show some painted models soon.
Heroquest is a kind of sentimental affair, I used to play it when I was twelve (so, many, many years ago...). Later I found a copy of the game in a second hand shop (quite a bargain: just one fimir was missing!). Now the idea is to use the models for various project and get them slowly painted. One day, maybe, even play one game lol.
-
After holiday time finally some paintjob has been done on chaos models. Four chaos warriors, the hound and the little angry thug done. And even a picture of the band so far in beige background!
I'm not totally happy with the NMM, and maybe the choice of the very bright orange spots makes colours a bit unbalanced, ma for now I will call these guys finished.
Now I should think more seriously about some background for this posse: I'm only shure that the hound is a famele one (not sure if that suits the canon, but who cares?). Her name, surely, is Ella!
-
Today I've managed to finish the first group of models: three more thugs for the warband. I enjoied a lot painting these: no doubt that the weird guy in skeletal armour is my favorite!
The orange spots represents some kind of gift or mutation given by the dark god Khorne: all in all a bit better in less dark and monochrome models.
-
These look great! That red-orange glow for the 'hot spots' is superb!
-
Thank you, Hobgoblin, very glad that you appreciate this: your threads are very inspiring and I like your mature approach to the hobby!
I admit that the original idea was less that of a glow and more of some spot of unnaturaly, plastic-like saturated colors. I also admit that the effect, all in all, is of something emitting orange light lol. Now I think I'll have two ways: introducing some glow effects o try to paint orange in a different way (maybe no highlits?). Next on queue is the mutated champion: I'll try on him.
-
After a bit of attention paid to another project, I finally completed the boss of my chaotic faction: meet La Fiera (The Beast), the nameless and speechless half-demon who leads this pack of barbarian warriors.
Nobody ever heard a single word fron his mounth, but he slowly gathered followers and minions in the wasteland where he recently appeared.
With the chaos hound and the two old-styled chaos warriors he is my warband in Warhammer Underworlds. I hope to play some larger battles with different rule sets when he will have some more follower!
Hope you like it.
-
That's a terrific beast (or indeed Beast)!
-
Lots of great work there :-)
-
Thank you both guys!
Probably this is the last figure of the year: I hope to continue in this demonic mood even in the near future. Program fo 2019: improve that damn NMM lol
-
Very cool

Thank you Beefcake, I'm glad that you like it!

Hi everyone,
new update is a sort of radical painting exercise: since demonic nature is, IMO, individualistic and chaotic, I decided to paint the handful of demons in the leadpile with individual colour palette... randomising them o_o
Ok, quite odd idea, but an interesting painting exercise, I think. So I will paint my demons using the palette planned for other works actually on the painting desk.
To make things easier, first other job on queue were some bases for WWII soldiers, so first palette were (almost) just browns!
So a couple of shots of the result on an old (and very cool sculpted) Demon Wing from Chronopia. In the last shot you can see the guy with an old mate, pianted when I still decided what colour use :)
I hope you enjoy it. Thank you very much for reading
-
well done sir... very cool minis
-
Thank you, Gibby: I'm glad that you liked this though lights in photos are very yellowish and I'm not very found yet in NMM.
Next demon palette: WWII soviet infantry (!)
-
Very nice. I wish these old minis were still in production. So much flavour!
-
Thank you beefcake!
Yes, Chronopia range had some really fantastic models: the guy I painted i sepia colours is a beautiful sculpt, great desing, great character, beautiful details and posture. Even if the Devout faction (demons/cultists/undead) was not one of the best in the range, there was some great model in it.
-
It took some time, but I have some pics of a new winged demon: this time WWII Russian infantry palette, with some simple conversions (four wings and a simple weapon swap). Not happy with the non metallics yet, but I'm working on it. ;)
Thank you for reading and a happy Easter to everybody!
-
Awesome conversions!
-
Thank you Andrew, I'm glad that you like it!

Ok, keep on on my fantasy roll: inspired by the fantastic recipe of Hagen Pinxit for marble painting, this time I made some statues thought to be used as terrains (for Frostgrave or even for Warhammer Underwolds). The result is far from that of the original tutorial, but decent enough for tabletop level.
http://hagenpinxit.blogspot.com/2018/06/marble-tutorial.html
And then the mandatory (non) winged demon: conversion and paint job thinking in some way to a jellyfish.
Thank you for reading
-
A quick update: few shots from a recent game of SOBH played with my good mate Flavio. My chaos adepts battled with Flavio's skavens (and they totally suked ::)).
But lot of fun in the end!
Featuring a close up of one of my marble statues on the top of Flavio's scenics.

Leaking of new material to update the fantasy tread, but having received my brand new tripod, I decided to take some picture of some miniature painted some time ago. I started with a small army put together when I gave a try to Warmachine: so here are my non-Cryx minis! I started with the humble mecanichal zombies (mechanithrall, in game terms) and their surgeon master (plus his minions). Most of them old GW zombies with various conversions and an old Warzone dark legion guy playing as the master. Hope you like them!
-
Great stuff. I thought I was being clever when I zombified some GW Ogre Bulls to be Crypt Horrors. But the Dunning Kruger effect applies, as I now see the sort of conversions that can be done!!!

Thank you mate, I'm glad that you like them!
To be honest old GW zombies were quite easy to customize: theyr multi-part concept allowed quite easily to swap parts of their bodies with virtually everything. The drawbak were odd positions, lack of dynamism and so on. All in all even today I see often bits of that kit utilized in conversion stuff.
-
Some blurry, over-lightened pics to share what's on the workbench: a re-basing of some old grenedier wood elf painted long time ago, a color test (feat an ugly paint job on the miniature ::)) and the mandatory demon (again, converted from old Chronopia stuff).
Hope you like it!

Great work !
i recognize chronopia demonwings :
http://www.chronopiaworld.com/artikel.php?id=118
Do you have any spare wings left ? I'm searching for a couple of them, to complete a chronopia unit.
Thanks
-
Hi Sundayhero,
sorry, but I have just one more model and I'd like to keep it.
I have a spare bit of wings from a complete model, but I think you mean the complete model of a daemon wing...
-
Hi,
thank you for your answer,
I'm just searching for the separated wings only, not the figure itself. I bought some used figures sometimes ago, and I don't have the wings of the mini...
-
So, you win a pair of wings! Drop me a PM with your address!
-
Cool! Thank you a lot, I never thought I could find some spare wings !
-
Last post of the year I think: a pic of the completed rebasing of my wood elfs. It's a humble update, I know, but it's a good excuse to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy 2020!
Cheers

Great looking thread

Thank you Akula, I'm glad that you like this even in spite of the terrible quality of images lol!

At least you’ve got photos...mine have been nuked by photobucket lol
-
Ok, time to update the thread. This month I finished the fishy-demon wing and I painted a guy from the Gipi set of Zombicide Black Plague (wanderful design, it was even exiting to paint something designed by Gipi) and a little guy we used in a recent Pulp Alley game as plot point. Lovely game with some good old friends, lot of fun!
Cheers
-
Monthly update: I finished another Chronopia Demon wing, so I even finished an entire unit of six! Incredible accomplishment by my standard lol
I even take a pic of I'm working on now: something wery barbaric will be on the cork...
Cheers!

What great stuff
No school like the old school :-*
-
Some great stuff in this thread. I particularly like the flying demon creatures.
-
Wonderful stuff
-
Thank you for the kind replies, guys, I'm glad that you like my work! Saddly I run out of flying demons, but I have some legged guys left still to do: I have lot of fun in painting everyone with a different palette.
Cheers!
-
Time for the monthly post! Sadly I haven't yet finished the paint job on my new barbarians, so I continue sharing the pics of my non-Warmachine army painted few years ago. This time it's turn of black ogruns, sort of ogre pirates. Old granadier hobgoblins plus a reaper ogre. A bit flat, but they do the job.
Cheers!

I like the work on the demon wings, especially the center to right ones :
These are very diferent from the chronopia rules book, and better if you ask me. I may use a similar paint scheme.

Thank you Sundayhero: I'm waiting for your take on these!

Hi all,
no fresh updates yet on the painting side (even if hopefully something will get finished in the next weeks). So other pics of the old Warmachine project: this time a couple of minor constructs, clearly a reference to one of my favorite anime. I hope you like them!
Cheers
-
I finally finished the batch of barbarians I was working on from long ago. I should focus on some speed painting technique, I guess. ::)
Anyway I like the result: it has been an exercise on muted palette and strong contrast between shadows and hilights. All in all they come together decently. They are a mix of old Citadel, recent GW and one of the lovely minis from the Zombicide Black Plague supplement from Gipi.
Cheers!

And that random Heroclix Hercules thrown in there for good measure.

Just another beefcake in the batch! : )
-
Another semi-fresh update on the fantasy side: a chunky daemon thing from Chronopia range (a Dusk realm warrior, I think). OK, the mini isn't the best of the range (somewhere I read it called as one of the "worst miniature ever"), but it has some nice details and it has been a good exercise on NMM. Here also with its winged companions!
Hope you like it!
-
After a veeeery long hiatus I take advantage of a new camera phone, hoping that that will allow me to post some rapid shots of my minis. So, here's a scratch-build(ish) war chariot for my barbarians.
The sculpting is quite rude, I admit, but overall it will do the job. If someone has some tip in sculpting bridles it wil be very welcome ;)
Hope you enjoy
-
I finally found time enough to finish the paintjob on the chariot.
Hope you enjoy!
-
Nice job on the scratch build/ kitbash, I like it! I have ambitions to make some similar chariots, so seeing yours is giving me some inspiration and ideas.

Thanks, glad to be helpful for other fellow's projects! Here's a pic of another chariot done some times ago: sadly no images of the WIP...

Hi everybody,
in order to play a game of Rangers of Shadow Deep with some friends, I kicked off the new year with a really quick improvement of the rat swarms in my collection. Here a pic of the whole bunch.
Hope you enjoy!
-
Just a quick update of a very slow project: it's my personal scenary season, so I'm working on a field and fences. The tiles warped a bit, but anyway it will look fine.
Now let's start painting...
-
Some old friend told me that they wish to begin to paint miniatures and call for my help in moving the first steps: long story short, we had a very fun sunday afternoon of miniature painting! Here a group shot of the event and thet first finished minis (not bad at all, for total newcomers)!
