Title: Post Apocalyptic Tank - "A lesson in foreign policy" (Picture Heavy)

Just completed a project and I wanted to share it with you. Post-apocalyptic games usually focus on low-tech raiders, with combat cars and maybe a big truck, tops. Well, there might just be a few better-equipped groups out there who are pretenders to the rulers of the before-time, who can call on something a bit ….bigger.....to give their neighbors "a lesson in foreign policy".

So this beast started off as a humble toy purchased at a now out-of-business toy chain for a song. Here's the "before" pic:

Not particularly realistic, I must admit, unless your thing is a post-apoc version of Toy Story (sorry about the reference of a property by "the monopoly who must not be named"). Full disclosure: this took STRONG inspiration of a painting I found on pinterest.

So this one took a bit of work: First, the model was disassembled and damaged with a hot nail and knife. It was then painted camo with 3 rattle-cans of hardware camo paint as it's base color. Grafitti Decals purchased on eBay were then added (see note below). After that I followed your standard procedures for tank weathering: washes, dry-brushing, and chalks. You basic tank model skilz apply here. If you use barbed wire, paint it dark and rust it out because new barbed wire just screams "suburbanite".

I had to add strips of messed-up door screen over the wheels because they were obvious and very toy-like even when painted. Then come the endless bits! Boxes, backpacks, camo netting, etc etc until the thing looks completely home-brewed and meets your own personal standard of dirty and terrible.

Note on grafitti decals: These are made via colored sections on top of a clear decal, so you'll need a light-colored base to stick them on top of or they will look too dark and unrealistic.

OR.....

You can slide them off and paint the back. That's right....just carefully paint the back of them a light color and let them dry. THEN wet the back slightly with matte medium or even water and paste them onto the surface! Viola.....correct looking grafitti. Definitely spray lacquer over them to keep them in place and offending for years to come.

Anyhow....enjoy. More dispatches from the front as they become available.

There was a film, about Dragons coming 'back' into modern Britain (sorry don't remember
what it was called) which had a column of vehicles approaching one settlement. It had
several AFVs and scared the he-be jeebies out of the defenders who just had small arms.

Nice idea of yours, consider it well & truly 'nicked' my son!
