The Pulp Figures Melanesians are pretty sweet...I swear, I have a man-crush on Bob Murch.

Yes I did and it's fantastic but I already have Pulp Figures miniatures (not the natives but many other ones) and they are smaller than Black Scorpion miniatures.

But you can also concider all islanders to be shorter than the whites!
and you can use Eureka's hawaiians, too!

BTW does anyone know if those eurekas are compatible with Pulp figures?

Good idea, I could use my oop Games Workshop pigmy's. The Conquest Miniatures zombies might be great too with undead pirates.

Reaper's Malapango Savages are more African than Polinesian but are at least of similar size to Black Scorpion. I've seen them used as generic islanders several times just by swapping out the distinctive shields.

Scheltrum do a Dayak range to go with their Rajah Brook Borneo stuff. this includes canoes and buildings on stilts as well as Dayaks with bows, spears and sharkskin armour - nasty b*ggers - think of the native in the Peter Jackson King Kong.

They wont be compatible with your big back scorpion stuff, but these guys arent much over 5 ft in real life anyway.

I like the Copplestone Africans (http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=DA) (even though I have only one, which I got from ebay). You can see her here: http://cianty-tabletop.de.vu/loths.html (http://cianty-tabletop.de.vu/loths.html)

If you are interested I can make a comparison shot with a Black Scorpion pirate (of your choice :) ).

Eureka sell some too which fit in quite nicely with the Scheltrum ones

Thanks Cianty. You can make a comparison with any of the Black Scorpion as I have all of them.

Alright, these photos really don't do the minis justice but my usual digi cam is currently not available so this will have to do:

The native is standing slightly higher because of the metal base it's on but just like with 28mm Foundry Pirates this is perfect to make them look right next to the 30mm BS Pirates.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks. Now I know I could use smaller miniatures may be. I think the Copplestone ones are a bit taller than the Foundry ones.

Wouldn't the islanders in general be a bit shorter than the Pirates, anyways?

If you are willing to use regular 28mm islanders/cannibals, then Old Glory has a good 30 pack of them in its pirate figures line.  There is a guy who puts his out for convention games in my region, and they look quite good painted up.  Interestingly, he painted them up with mud packed hair.  The chief pack, canoe pack, and the cooking pot pack are good also.  Old Glory figures are reasonably priced.

Just out of interest have any of you seen figures of Kingsmill islanders. I always thought they'd make excellent and ferocious looking minis with sharkstooth swords and spears 'tebutje' and some impressive body rattan armour (sort of Mad Max meets No Escape)

You may wish to consider the "Afro-Carribean Renegades" on:

some of the last figures Mark Copplestone designed for Foundry

The Eureka Hawaiians are very slightly shorter and slimmer than Pulp Figures.  I think they will look dandy together.
