Under Fire Miniatures has a brand new range of figures...

Pack 2: Squad Command

Pack 3: Fire Team 1

Pack 4: Fire Team 2

A link to the online store where they may be bought is below.

The slot for pack one has been left free as that will be filled by a planned platoon command pack. There will also be a Dragon atgm team in the pack 5 slot.

All figures are scaled for use in 28mm games and cast out of white metal. If readers have any questions I will happily answer them.

Regards,

Bill Weston.

Good looking figures.
When do you think you will have the other 2 US packs for sell?

Nice looking figures. Very suitable looking for Twilight 2000.

What kit are they wearing?

The figure on the right of pack four looks like he has a very Victorian moustache.

As I have said before an unusual but not impossible combination of kit. M16A2s which started to come into frontline US Army use from 1986 onwards mixed with M1 helmets, which had started being replaced by the PASGT (Fritz) Helmet some four years earlier. No body armour. Conus based US divisions? Korea? National Guard?

Unless another pack is in the pipeline where are the M249 SAWs? Those were introduced before the M16A2. If you want 1970s/ early 1980s fireteams they really should have M16A1s which look qute different. Late 1980s, suggested by the rifle carried, should really have SAWs.

Hello 0846.

My next list'll be submitted late September, so the figures should be landing just before Christmas break.

There is a platoon command pack and a Dragon atgm team planned, with a .50cal team and more infantry mooted.

I need to do a lot more research though to see what is/isn't missing from a platoon TO&E from the early 80's.

Hope this helps.

ALICE webbing, M1 helmets with canvas covers & two piece BDU's.

Wrong model rifle aside, you pretty much have all the kit necessary for an early 1980s, platoon, if  as you have already indicated you are adding M47 Dragons.   Technically, one of the M16 armed guys in each fire team was issued with an el cheapo, clip-on, aluminium bipod  but they seem to have rarely been used. Having used one, I can understand why.

At platoon level the only real variants are M60s deployed with the squad in mechanized platoons. At company level you would find 60mm mortars in the airborne/ Rangers battalions.

I imagine 'Ranger Cap' heads might be a popular option. The Rangers also used 60mm mortars, M24 Sniper Rifles and M67 RCLs, or from 1988 the 'RAWS' (84mm Carl Gustav), in detachment teams within the company-level weapons platoons.

Hopefully they will be compatible, and good luck with the sales rights.

They could also be used for modern Phillipine Army if you wanted to wargame their fight against Insurgents or a fictional war with China.
