Following on from looking at the Roman remains in the the fortress city of Deva Victrix, modern day Chester, I have posted about the Roman finds in the city held in the Grosvenor Museum.

The city became the home base for XX Valeria Victrix and is thought to have also accommodated II Adiutrix during Agricola's campaign into Wales.

Jonathan,
Are you anywhere near Chester this bank holiday weekend?
As its the Big Roman Fort Build at Past in the Park. Near the Village of Hope.
They're building the East gate of a turf fort (in fact they've planning permission for the whole fort, and more) The museum isn't technically open(on account of it being built.) But the site its self is open and the public are welcome.
The build is being undertake by dozens of re enactments groups. All have been asked to come in kit and put on displays,as well as build the turf fort in their re enactment costumes.
A lot of my friends are there unfortunately I'm not as the Mrs is ill.
Mark.

Hi Mark,
What fun, but sadly I'm not nearby either. We were visiting Chester as part of a Wedding Anniversary week away and popping back up from Devon would be a bit of trip.
Hopefully someone will post about how it went with some pictures as well
Cheers
JJ
