So back from a Baltic Cruise and thought I might share some of my snaps from the excellent Swedish Army musuem, pop over to my blog for a raft more pictures and garbled narrative. http://gapagnw.blogspot.com/2018/08/swedish-army-museum.html

Excellent presentation!
One feels awe among these historical exhibits!
Thank you for sharing!
I'll be visiting your blog for extra material! Cheers!
(I think you found Tallinn interesting as well)
-
Book me in! ;D
-
Cheers guys, Tallin next after some more painted Great Northern War Swedes.
-
Very cool. If I make it out that way, I'll have to pay the museum a vist.
-
Definately worth the effort and a quick walk to both the history museum and the Vasa museum (more of that in another post)
-
Will have to go back just for this! Thanks for sharing

I know one of the curators of the curators, she's is a real MÖP (martially overly interested person) and has shown me how they work at the museum. For example how they handle the delicate silk banners captured at Narva and other places. Wonderful stuff!
They do wargaming sessions Wednesdays at the museum.

I am really envious and sure that you have participated in these sessions! :-* It would be great to know more about!

Great post Roger. I had the pleasure of visiting this museum in 2016 and was really impressed by the displays. It is nice to see a museum that is not dumbing things down and excessively applying political correctness.

Do they do this every Wednesday? I'll be visiting the end of September and may have time.
Thanks

TURN THE SHIP AROUND ROGER, As some of those pics need better focus! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for posting this info. I will have to go there next time. Sometimes I see flights via Stockholm and think, what the heck would I do there on a 4-5 hr layover...now I have a purpose!
-
Sorry I was on a deadline so not all of them are great shots, but it gives youa flavour. The Vasa museum is excellent too and walking distance from the army museum, I will do a short post on this over the weekend.
-
I am of course kidding Roger....great stuff and makes one want to go there.
So where do the Swedes keep their AFVs, also in Stockholm?
-
I was there just last week, on Roger’s recommendation, but only spotted a solitary S-tank by the gate...
-
I am really not sure where the AFV's are, as Adam says their is an SP gun by the gate but I assume thats because they consider it to be artillery as the museum is the old artillery barracks.
-
Not really my area, but I had a quick google and from what I can find the tank and vehicle museum is called Arsenalen (http://arsenalen.se/) and is located a little bit outside Stockholm.
-
Looks like an awesome museum :-*
Thanks for posting, both here and on your Blog

Just added a post on the Vasa museum too.

Brilliant thanks Traveller

There is a good medieval museum too. Hidden away under a road bridge, but has some interesting exhibits. Including a medieval gunboat.
