Title: Rubicon figure scale comparisons?
Post by: FramFramson on 01 September 2018, 06:56:58 PM
Did a little searching, but surprisingly I can't seem to find anything already (apologies if there IS a thread somewhere and I missed it).

How do Rubicon's infantry models scale as compared to other manufacturers? Closer to 28mm or 32mm? Any pictures out there?

As usual I'm looking to mix them with Copplestone, but the size need not match exactly.

Small, ‘true 1/56’ - a good match to the Perry WW2 plastics.

Definitely a smaller bunch for sure then. The head seems tiny! And not just because wargaming heads are usually oversized... this one actually seems UNDERsized.

Fram - you are quite right about the small head sizes. The weapons look likewise. Now I'm sure the response would be that they are properly scaled figures in true 1/56. Since I love Rubicon vehicles I can hardly blame them for adopting that philosophy.
But when you put them next to Perry you realise that the Perry ones do have slightly larger weapons, heads, and hands than 'true' scale. And in my view that makes them better! It's all a matter of degree since I find the likes of Artizan and Warlord look like pumpkin heads. But now I've bought some Rubicon figures I'm not sure what to do with them ...

It's not just the heads and weapons. Maybe it's just the photos, but that Soviet soldier seems to have a bizarrely thick body for his height.

I use Rubicon figures and Warlord figures together in games all the time. As long as they are not standing right next to each other they are fine.  When they have the same paint job they look much closer to the same figures.
