Hey folks, I am trying to gather some info on what folks want (or prefer) for the revised ed. of SMF. I am thinking of releasing it later in 2019.
Anyway, do folks prefer a spiral bound, perfect bound, hard cover, etc.? With Lulu I can release multiple formats.
Also, what about the size? Digest? Classic 8.5" x 11"? Some other size?
Finally, would folks support a Kickstarter/Indiegogo to help pay production costs? This would not be very involved--it would just be for the book, and maybe some dice as a sweetener if I can find a new production source.
Anyway, share your thoughts!

If only one option, hardcover for me.

I like the size format of the current book, which is around A5 in the UK, and is my preferred skirmish gaming book size.

Kickstarter of the two, but happy to back on either of those platforms. :)
Anyway, share your thoughts!
Good luck with this Scott. :)

Hardcover A5 for me and I'd back a kickstarter, but only if its EU friendly. Its customs charges not the shipping that hurts.

Spiral bound, so it can stay open on the table top; 8.5" by 11" format.
Would support a Kickstarter campaign only if it's the only way to get the project done.

I like the spiral bound in the size it already comes in. Would be open to a kickstarter.
-
Spiral bound is an attractive option but the paper and cover weight needs to be heavy enough to account for it. A KS for the book and custom dice would also be of interest.
-
I love the spiral bound, half-sized book I have now. I'd buy the same again in a flash.
-
I prefer hardback but spiral bound would be a close second.
-
I'd be interested in custom dice too.

Hi Scott.
I have the square-bound, digest size; and TBH, with all the SMF gaming I do, I'd prefer spiral-bound and probably 8.5" x 11". I know the rules well enough by now that I'm not constantly referencing the book, but it would be nice to be able to leave it open to something I need without bending the spine.
How much of a revision is it going to be?

Nothing radical! Just adding one or two new archetypes, making the Archer its own archetype. Adding a couple new powers.
Thanks!

I'd also be interested in a spiral bound, PDF, and dice. Looking forward to the new edition.

Scott, I really like the spiral bound digest size. Very handy at the table top during game play--takes up less room, easy to keep open/lay flat. Finally, I find the spirals to be quite sturdy in terms of torn pages, etc. 2nd choice would be hardback.
As for kickstarter, you bet! I am all about supporting SS/SMF. You and I apparently have similar tastes in gaming. I think SS and SMF are the best super-hero games I've ever come across.

Wow! Thank you!!!

I would be totally down for a Kickstarter. Dice would be nice, but it’s not a deal breaker. As for size, I kind of like the 8.5” x 11” in a spiral-bound or perfect bound format.
SMF is a great game and is what I wished Heroclix would have been.

Spiral bound does the job for me. Preference is 8.5" x 11" or the digest size.
Would happily pay for it via Kickstarter as well. All about supporting your hard work.
-
Ditto on support for this.

My plan is to mount multiple options on Lulu: Hardcover, Softcover, and Spiral Bound.
Going to have some conversations with my layout guy this week about the project. Things are looking good. I've seen Rich's design for the cover and it looks great! Getting more interior art from Adam.
The rules tweaks are rounding into form as well. I have done some great play-testing and gotten solid feedback from some of you.
Let me know if you have any other ideas!

Can't wait for further info! Excited to support this new endeavor.

Any of the book formats are great. I do admit I love the spiral format for Strange Aeons, but otherwise if the binding is good I am fine with anything.
I also would prefer Kickstarter and can be EU friendly as well now. I am still not a fan of Indigogo.

I had a brief exchange with Todd, the layout guy, and things are moving apace. The current plan is to do spiral bound, hardcover with dust jacket, and PDF.
I've never done a book with a dust jacket, so I am hoping it works out. Rich Y. has done some tremendous art for the cover, so I am hopeful the thing will look dynamite!
