Yowsa! It's a battle of the titans...! :-*
-
2 great entries, but the tattooed Yakuza did it for me :-*........sorry Grimm ::)
-
Those tattoos on the Yakuza are fantastic!! :-*
-
The tattoos won it for me :)
-
A vote here for the amazing tattoos - another triumph for the one-haired brush!!
-
must go for the tattoos ,no choice :)
get myself a new one next week ::)
oh dear bye bye to first position :?
@Bugsda
If we meet in person sometime you have to tell me how to paint tattoos ,please.
Cheers Grimm
-
Bloody hell, Bugsda. You are a master.
-
Wow, I can only comply with the rest here, I love all of Grimm's entries but that tat is so convincing! 8)
-
Indeed a clash of the titans. Nice to see two powerhouses going against each other. As usual both show what they can do...great entries. Although the first one tells a great story and is presented very well, I am also captured by the nice coloring on the second one with the freehand tattoo. Great stuff.

Yes.
Very difficult decision. :(
-
Ouch! This may be the decisive battle in this season!
-
Nice scene as usual, Grimm, but the painting on Bugsda's Yakuza is outstanding ...!
:-*
-
Blimey! Thanks lads :) Sorry Grimm :D I hope I haven't cost you a shot at "da title"
I got a good tip from Darren Mathews for doing tattos. Add inks to the acrylic paint, it thins it while keeping the pigment high and it seems to flow smoother from the brush.

I've recently experimented with a similar idea, but just with metallics. I used (rather thick) Vallejo metallics and added GW Ogryn Flesh wash to thin it. Flow was greatly improved and it gave a slightly worn/rusty appearance that I highlighted with the original colour.

Two great entries :)
Are all of the Yakuza Foundry figures?

Are all of the Yakuza Foundry figures?
3 Foundry 2 Dixon and an Artizan, I expect you can guess which is which Orc ;)
-
The tats are nice, but what also caught my eye in the Yakuza entry are the polished wood bases; simple, but neat effect, that cries out Japanese tea house to me.
The trench raiders are, of course, very nice as well, but the overall scene is too monochromatic, and I think Grimm is relying too much on storytelling and not enough on paintjob.
-
Excellent blending and neat bases Bugsda :o :o :o
-
nice, but german casualties?! ;)

Thanks I will try that :)

If that is your opinion I sure you will like my next entry 8)
cheers Grimm

The Yakuza are superb but I still think that the trench-raid is more my thing! Just have to buck the trend, sorry.
Where are the figures from Grimm?
-
Great job to both of you. This one is a tough one to decide on. They are both very nicely done. The tatoo is very cool as are the bases. Although Grimm's entry is somewhat monchromatic...it is justified for the era that the entry depicts. Heads, you win, tails you win...type of vote here!!
-
really hard choice here but this time yakuza got my vote :)

Can you please tell me where to find them? I cannot recognise any of them in Artizan Thrilling Tales or Dixon Miniatures Gangsters

The Artizan figure is from the KKBB "Field Agents" pack. I haven't had chance to check out Dixons yet.

I can't find them on the Dixon sight either, they were a cancalled commision so I didn't actually buy them. ???
