Things Cthulhoid usually get my vote, but this matchup had me wishing for the "Both" option again!

The officer/sergent in the center with the sword looks like he's about to cut off his own arm, though... hell of a way to prove a point to your subordinates!  :)

At least, for two of them. The one with the fish comes from RAFM:

Easy one for me...just look at my Avatar ;). Terrific paintjobs Benbow. And your photography of these green creatures is also a lot smarter and better than on my own Deep Ones. The green works wonders this way. Can't say enough good things about these. Absolutely my favorite entry of this round.
Tellus' entry is fantastic too, but if you're up against the spawn of Cthulhu in combination with the Admiral's painting skills it's hard to win me over.

Don't worry I know what you mean,I've already experienced this in Round 6.It's seems that the Captains "cross-reference-sheet-system" isn't working so well ;)

Oh dear. Poor old Blood has cocked it up again, has he?  lol

Well, it is a very demanding job. I'm certain it would be much worse were I in charge. The whole thing would be a heap of smouldering, ashen ruins by now.  :)

This is tough! But the 95th made it!

Hi Tellus, it's us again.  o_o

I had matches against Hammers, Captain Blood, Malebogia, Rapscallion, Westfalia Chris, Orctrader and you. I really hoped it would be Grimm, Plynkes or Chambersofminiatures this time ...  8)

That would have been easy then ...

Sigh ...
 ;)

What I really like about the fishmen is the variety of greens.

The faces of the 95th soldiers are excellent.  Other parts of them, however, look too drybrushed.  Also, forgive me if I'm wrong, but is the officer actually done?  His hat looks like it's missing some colors.

is it me, or does the monster shown alone at lower right really have a very miserable expression? Makes me feel sorry for it, poor thing.  :(
Grand show both of you.  8) 8) 8) 8)

No drybrushing at all,Sir!  :D
Well,I'm sorry but they had black hats can't help it-at least that's what my sources say.
Glad you like the faces :D

@ Admiral B.
It's like the old german saying- you always meet twice :'(

Oh dear. What can I say? That's the second week running I've cocked up. I'm very sorry.

Tellus, if the Admiral beats you a second time, I will compensate you by excluding you from the top end of the draw for round 9... Which should mean you get an easier match next time round...

I feel I should explain the process so you can see how this goes wrong...

I'm not making excuses, but I have to say the whole thing is fabulously labour intensive, and involves copying words and figures to and fro between Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. There might be a cunning scientific way to do this, but I haven't found out what it is yet. I do it by hand and eye...

Here's the current plot of who has played who...

As you can see, for some reason I didn't carry across the round 6 match between Tellus and Admiral Benbow from the Word document (where I had scheduled the matches following the draw) to the Excel spreadsheet. So then I am trying to rejig the round 8 matches where repeat matches have occurred - and I see no little coloured box between Tellus and The Admiral. I think I'm safe to pit them against each other. Hey presto!

Human error - my mistake.
But honestly, you should try it some time...   ;)

It's made a lot more difficult because:

1. As the competition goes on, more and more draws are resulting in matches which I have to change, because they've met before. And as soon as you move one match, that has a knock-on effect somewhere else. And so on.

2. I am trying to make sure that the top 16 fight each other and the bottom 30. But who is in the top 16 and bottom 30 keeps changing of course! Doing the draw and then rescheduling matches as fairly as possible within these two smaller pools makes it doubly difficult.

I'm not complaining... Just explaining.  :)

Still - only 2 more rounds to go. Phew...

His eyes are also much more vacant than those of the others.  He looks like an undead fishman.  :)

The 95th is absolutely superb!! Great detailing, shading and the bases have been nicely blended into the table top terrain. Fabulous. The critters in the second entry are very unique and are nicely painted, shaded and blended. This is a tough one. Good luck to you both!!

That's a wicked cool figure Captain Blood.  I can only imagine the difficulties, especially as those in the top tier need to keep battling those in the top tier.

I think I would feel more comfortable if you just proceed as normal, but I appreciate your offer. If I get kicked the second time by the Admiral I think I won't be in the top 16 anyway,so it may doesn't matter at all.
You really got a hell of a job here as we all can see,so this things can happen.Don't worry about it!

Doesn't matter where you end up on the table Tellus, this league has proved you are a damn fine painter.

I love your style.   :-*

Hehehe  8)

Very nice entries from the both of you! Tellus, your fabrics and bases are delicious again, though of course this entry is not as colourful as the vikings, for example. I also really like the monsters, the different shades of green bring more life to the basically monochrome models, very nice! Oh, and those bases with the shells, fabulous!

My sympathies to you, Captain Blood. Just looking at that spreadsheet flays my mind. I've not the right part of mind for such 'librarian' tasks o_o .

Captain Blood, and everyone else,

It is very hard to run a multi-round tournament of this kind.  Here are a couple of suggestions from my experience:

Randomly pick the match-ups for the first 6 rounds, only adjusting if you accidently get a rematch..

The last three weeks become a round robin for each group of four so

Group A is 1 to 4 from the first 7 weeks
Group B is 5 to 8
Group C is 9 to 12, etc

Feel free to adjust the bottom group or two if you have an odd number in the last group

Each group them play each member once in the last 3 weeks so the final 3 rounds for Group a would be:

Week 8    Week 9    Week 10
1 vs 4      1 vs 3      1 vs 2
2 vs 3      2 vs 4      3 vs 4

It is OK for rematches to occur in the final 3 weeks - this will only happen if two players in the same group happened to play in the first 7 weeks.

This format ahould make your life MUCH easier and is likely to give a clear winner.

What do you think?
